Originally posted by mountainhoundf350 your idea of putting it in 4 wheel drive so you know it is working is all well and fine but i hunt with hounds and i could be getting off road to get in closer to them. if it is'nt working i'm screwed. plus having to get under it to fix it if it's not is just wrong.
Good point, I never thought of that scenario, having to take it out of 4x4 in the middle of the mission
Here's a good question: On ESOF vehicles, is there a hole in the floor for the transfer case stick, and if so, can one be hooked up to the ESOF transfer case without a problem? Or is the transfer case different too?

1999 F-250 Super Duty that turned 195,000 miles today and shift-on-the-fly equipped. Never a problem, except with the hubs losing vacuum seal around 100,000 miles. Replaced the seals and it worked fine again. Otherwise I had to manually lock the hubs for 4WD to function.
A nice convenience........
The trans went out at 118,000 miles, replaced the ball joints, one front hub, alternator and power steering pump between then and now. other than that it has been reliable and headache-free.
