performance

I just traded my 2001 ford crew cab v10 in on a 2002 psd. I have lots of friends who have similar trucks and running superchips tuner, bully dog and edge. In your opinion what is the best chip. I will be towing and normal driving about the same. Also the truck has 50000 miles will I be hurting my truck in any way. If a do run a chip or tuner do I need to purchase gauges exaust etc. Thanks Spencer

If you are going to chip your truck, you need to open up the exhaust so it can breath, and you need gauges to keep tabs on it. Without them you are flying blind. Just my opinion.

Before a chip, buy an intake, exhaust and guages. Like rubberduck said, if you dont your flying blind!

A local diesel performance shop is installing the gauges and 1705 superchip tuner in tommorow. He told me I do not need to do exaust mods unless I wanna run it down the drag strip. What do you guys suggest on exaust. Thanks

The exhaust is one of the most important mods you should do to your truck. The tuner or chip will create more heat, thus you need to expell that heat. You are risking high egt's.

he called it

Rubberduck called it. Have seen to many people not do the exhaust thing first and paid a heavy price for the mistake.

wannaburn- is your pyro probe mounted post turbo? Your EGT's sound pretty low if it's not. To improve the exhaust system, you'd want a downpipe, and open up the rest of it to a larger diameter. A 4" system would be all that's necessary, but 5" all the way back is even better.
Frankly, I'm surprised that your local diesel shop would talk you out of an upgraded exhaust system.

Qaudzilla. They told me that an exaust system is the next upgrade that I should do if I want more power and lower egt's. I do not now where the pyro is I will check during daylight and let you know. I also saw that you live in washington. I live in the tri-cities, washington. Scott howell at diesel performance unlimited located in pasco wa did the work. Give me an idea of what Im going to pay to do the exaust. thanks
