listing things you guys would like to see covered
Hmm this thread kinda went away... but if y'all have looked at many of the new posts after the last week or so... donn't yall think a "lift" sticky is needed? Anyways I am just trying to keep the thread active so we can get the info in here to create the sticky. Thanks DC for your tire size listing on one of these pages.
I was thinking, could we set up a list of each manufacture that makes a lift for the SD and list them out? I think we had pretty much everyone listed in yeti's thread "Which brand".

i think the real problem here is one of internet etiquette. there seems to be a lot of new guys here that just have no clue about a forum and that a search would be the first thing they should do be fore asking a question.... of those that searched, they claim to have found no useful information.... that would lead me to believe that they either the search engine is broken or they did not enter useful search criteria (or possibly they were too lazy to search and just made the claim they did.... but lets hope that wasn't the case).
i just looked at the search engine and although there is no real help system there to guide a new user on how to search, the form that is used is very self explanatory.
all that being said, i feel the issue at hand is more of the fact that recently the same few questions are being asked a multitude of times, so even just browsing the last week or twos posts would have answered the question.
there is also a very well though out FAQ that seems to have those very asked questions answered that IS sticky.
listing manufactures is not the right idea in my opionion as their product line changes constantly and the fact that any not listed is either going to cause debate or controversy.
it really gets my goat that a simple answer of use the search and/or FAQ answer has gotten some backlash from the newbies here.
don't get me wrong, we want and encourage new users, but come on, please have a clue!
If you new guys think we are a tough crowd go post some questions at pirate4x4 and then come back. They will tear even seasoned people apart over there.
I think maybe tolerance here is the key. My learning curve on this forum has been pretty steep. I have found in my line of work building nightclubs, I am always asked questions regarding everything from the basic and mundane, to complicated layout therums and PointOfSale system uses. Regardless of the question and how many times it has been asked, I answer it.
I never worked for anyone that wanted to teach me. I pretty much have always owned and operated my own business, and had to learn and answer most questions and problems through trial and error. I've had only one man teach me tricks and techniiques and those only came after picking up hints here and there, and mostly after I had most of the pc's myself. I wasted a lot of time and money remaking things, and vowed never to put anyone through that if I could.
In the union (local 58 O, Ornimental Stell and Ironwork) we learned only over time. why do we do so and so this way? Well son thats the way it has always been done was usually the answer. My friends in the carpenters union didn;t know half of what I know b/c the old timers didn't pass their knowledge along for various reasons. A few years ago, I came across one of the woodworkers newsgroups, only to see someone I taught everything passing along his knowledge to those that asked. As I lurked, he would make references to me and to those that work for him about passing along such knowledge.
If there is a post that you don't want to answer, move on to something you do want to read. There is so much on this forum that to get bogged down with helping someone, or demeaning them for asking something you know inside and out, then you can only blame yourself. My unbrideled enthusiansm for this site when I first landed here was tremendous. I couldn;t wait to get more, and read and learn more. Hopefully, the majority of these newbies will do the do the same.
Lets not be selfish with our knowledge. Pass it along, and avoid the things that bother you until it can be fixed to your liking. I have a friend looking into the forum parameters to see if he can create an aplet or a program to respond to certain posts with links to relevant information to save some of us the aggravation of replying. Until then, help your fellow man, and don;t get into a battle of wits with unarmed combatants. no one wins
I can't bring myself to read 4 pages of this...but if anyone wants updated info in the FAQ please email me and I will add it / make a new page for it / whatever has to be done.

you don't even have to be anti..... just question it and you get booted as i did..... it is starting to get bad here..... i have gone from one that questioned to one that thinks the product is JUNK on the simple point that you can't even say anything but love for it... because if you don't... some one will complain to the management here.
cwb.... i havn't been t pirate in a long while... but it'd be fun to drop donahoe and his love crew over there and see what they did to them.
Afetr I found out he was a sponser I said something naughty about being removed and Ken got a little ****ed at me. So he and I had an E-mail discussion about it. I will send you an e-mail about it. About Pirate, wow is all I can say. I know that most of the guys there know way more than me but few people there want to help like Bossman was saying. That site really is fairly childish but if you have a thick skin and can dish it back then it can be pretty fun.
PBB is pretyy outragous sometimes. I dig some of the chic members and their threads. Mostly hang ouit in chit-chat. But if you go to Ford or Tow-Rigs Forums and ask about SD they refer em over here to get it answered!
my oh my.. i just spent 20 min on the pirates site.. i dont know what to say.. wow.. im real ignorant when it comes to the internet.. i basically just use it to learn on topics i need to know.. this is the only site i take the time to participate in.. i dont know why... but that place is more like a chat place, in 20 min.. i read tons of crazy stuff, lots of extreme opinions and talks of fights and tough guys, and this and that... that stuff is really not viable through the internet...soo much strong opinion and "in your face" presentation.. i would never take such a stance on the internet.. theres just no way to back up anything you say.. as Yeti once said "you only gain respect around here with knowledge" that is soo true.. these guys crack me up.. i travel all around the US nightlife on a weekly basis and deal with self-proclaimed tuff guys all the time.. some are more legit than others.. but to take that stance on the internet is just pointless..... Someone needs to recognize it takes the strongest man.. to just be above all that....bottom line is i did not learn anything on that site in 20 minutes, when i learn new stuff, from differnt angles/perspectives on here everyday... i dont think ill be spending much time over there..... but entertaining site at least.. i just have to pic throught the ruble....
