i'm wondering if this is a problem with the early production trucks or if later ones are having the same probem. I've got an 04 scab 4x4 but haven't any probems yet at about 1000 miles.
Me too, '04 Scab 4x4 with 500 miles on it, no vibration. I'll be listening closely when it gets up around 3,000. It seems like a lot of folks start experiencing the problem then.
Well I didn't get a answer from any one,so I guess it's not the same. I wish someone would say if this seem's to be what they are feeling since I am going to the dealer tomorrow.
Do you feel this vibration on every road or does it change from road to road? How much of a vibration is it? I don't think that I have a "vibration" I just feel the truck is always lightly shaking from every irregularity on the road, from 2mph to 50mph. Its kind of hard to explain. My 97' Chevy work van has a vibration at certain speeds.
dgdee, It feel's as if something is loose and is hitting the floorboard's sort of speak,Im like you it's hard to pin point. The tech that drove the truck felt it also, put it on the rack and,of course found nothing, but it's getting worse. Im going back to the dealer tomorrow so they can check it out again, but I already no what the outcome will be ,they can't find anything. Im not going to pay for a 34000 dollar truck that has some problem's without bugging the hell out of them ,you can bet your bottom dollar on that.
There was a guy on the site that said he was feeling exactly what you described. It seems like he said his seemed worse when it was windy. I don't have any feeling like something is hitting the floor board or is loose underneath. I feel for you, having to deal with service advisors is always a battle.
I have to say that I think we have found some significant issues with this new model. While I'm a Ford fan and love the looks, the only way you can know how a vehicle really handles is to own it several months. Unfortunately I've never been disatisfied until now. Now that we own them, we have to look to the manufacturer to assist with these issues. They are real.
I certainly hope that this issue is resolved and suggest others use the escalation form from Ford's website with issues.
There's a lot of you that seem to have the same problem. Has anyone narrrowed "thing" down yet - for instance, is this problem from 1, 2 or all of the assembly plants, is it related to LS &/or Open rear ends, a particular gear ratio (4.10, 3.73, 3.55, ...), just on vehicles with the 5.4L engine or does it include the 4.6L also?
There may be a pattern - if there is, trace it back and then you're gettting somewhere.
I've been posting about my vibration problem. Here's what the dealer has done so far:
1) Balanced tires and aligned front end
2) Replaced steering gear
3) Replaced front hubs
4) Replaced front wheels and tires
5) Installed vibration suppression kit
Obviously Ford knows about the problem since they've released the vibration kit. I think it's a small number of us that are having the problem and that Ford should make it right before they get into a recall/class action situation.
Well,I took the truck back to the dealer today and the service manager drove it instead of a tech. He also noticed a vibration right away. ,he had also stated over the phone that there hadn't been any other issue's with any truck's until he drove mine, now it seem's as if he has forced balanced two truck's and helped the problem. Any way, they are going to look at the truck when I go on vacation 1st of april,so they can take there time . Iwill post the outcome. By the way, someone said the tsb for shudder was 04-03-03,couldn't find it.
