excessive smoke?

Does anyone know why there is still excessive grayish exhaust smoke after swapping out injector pumps and purging air from fuel system on an '83 6.9L ? It seems to be running OK but is spewing way too much smoke, any suggestions?

If the above are negative.. then you might consider replacing your valve seals.... not too bad a job and all on the top side of the engine....

The 6.9 in the 80's were known to blow headgaskets frequently. I was working as a diesel tech at my uncles shop, and he had a customer with a fleet of diesel vans, about 20. We did head gaskets in everyone of those damm things.
