White smoke is usually air in the fuel system.Have you replaced the return lines and o-rings yet?How easy is it starting when hot?

white smoke could also be due to retarded timing

If you had the injectors out and re-used the copper seals that could cause a prob as they are a one use item.

What about the o-rings and the rubber lines between the injectors. They could be sucking air but not bad enough to leak fuel.

put the same pump on in the same marks,no fuel additives.this was smoking bad before i tore it down for other reasons.compression averages about 410 pounds on all 8 clys now after i fixed the other problems,i tought the smoke before i tore it down was because the intake valve was not opening and fuel was going out the exhaust ,i fixed that problem .but the miss about idle along with the smoke is bad.above a idle

you really should time it. I had the same problem with my truck after the engine wap. I ended advancing the pump almost to the faqctory stops before I got it to run right. Yes, timing can cause a ton of white smoke and stumbling. The truck is probably quieter than it was before too. Try to advance the pump.
