The problem as we all now know is…. each flash is accumulative of all. Therefore, from that point on it disables all who ever get the flash.

The dealership gets paid to do these flashes by ford. Maybe thats why they press putting the flash in when you bring it in for service. You need to be sure to tell them you do not want it done.
Consider: Prior to the service writer printing out your work order, have him put this clause in...

Not withstanding anything to the contrary contained herein,

I do not authorize any flashing/reflashing of any of this Truck's computers;

This prohibition is of the essence.

Yea "Luke" you are right on this. Also food for thought, after just visiting the Demo Trailer set up on these motors that go from dealer to dealer, the rep said that they are having problems with some dealerships charging ford for the flash when they are not even done. Just another twist to this thing I guess. He also stated not to flash it if it is working right.

Hi Flounder and Luke,

This goes along with whats going on with my truck, if in fact the oct flash removes pilot injection? My oasis report i posted in my user gallery says the dealer performed the flash, but i still have pilot injection and there is no sticker anywhere on vehicle about it. Is there anywhere we can get proof positive that the oct flash took away pilot injection? Did everyone else that got the oct flash lose their pilot injection? Thanks, John

I would wait for the next flash and then let them flash it. Since they are accumlative your PI should definitly be gone. I think I heard that there is a Jan one out. Not sure. It is my opinion from what I have read and been told by ford rep that doing away with it will help those old c94s. Flashes were part of fords solution!

When I visited the PSD demo trailer yesterday, the engineers would not talk about flashes. Neither guy would talk about them. They said that was a different department of Ford.

What they meant to say……..they did not want to talk to anyone about the disaster that has been created by re-flashing, if they said anything they will never leave that state……..the line of customers waiting for answers………. would be too long.

And legally soooooooo binding.

For that reason alone, it is very important to read the copy of the work order you get back after the work has been completed. The re-flashing would have to be on that copy (if not placed on the initital work order--and your not noticing it).

Interesting that Ford is not being very "transparent" on this subject. Certainly creates the perception of "hiding" something.
