Is it actual water or is your oil look like milky white? If so, and you don't have a leaking head gasket, then it's probably just moisture. I have the same problem in my truck (in sig). I posted the question in the Oil and Lubrication. Here's the link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=177584 I still have the problem but I guess I willl just have to live with it. As long as your head gasket is ok (meaning you are not losing coolant) then you are fine. Do you make frequent short trips? That is another reason why you could have it. Read through that above link and maybe you'll learn something....I know I did.

if you drive 25 mi. to work my guess is that you have a head or intake manifold leak. The manifold could be leaking into the rocker valley and then into your oil. You drive far enough to burn any moisture out of your oil from condensation unless of course you have a cold(160) deg or no thermostat, minimum temp for a thermosat would be 180 below that ware accelerates.

I have only replaced heads on one vehicle, but when I did a lot of coolant spilled into the engine when I removed the intake maniflold. Maybe another oil and filter change to get all the coolant out?

U may have a small crack in a head. Some u cant see with the naked eye, but can still be there. If its not cracked, it may be warped just enough to hurt.

I have the heads off of mine right now, I am in the process of a valve job. The truck has not been started for a few weeks.

Last night I drained the oil, and around a couple ounces of loverly green fluid came out first. This truck has 165,000 miles, and I have NEVER had water in the engine, at least not enough to notice on the cap or in the oil.

I am assuming the cause on mine was coolant draining out of various parts into various holes when I took tore it down.

At least I hope so!

So have you changed the oil again since the first time after the gasket replacement? If you are unsure if it's moisture or coolant, maybe you could let the truck sit for a while, and then barely loosen the oil pan bolt until something comes out. The color of whatever comes out first would let you know what it is. ....I don't know, just an idea...

Moisture (condensation) in the crankcase is caused by running too low a thermostat or no thermostat at all.

The engine came with a 190 degree thermostat and that's what it should have. All the old wives tales about 160 degree thermostats are just that. Not only will you get condensation and sludge, but cylinder wear is almost double at 160 vs. 190.
