Has anyone purchased step rails from the dealership? I am looking for the kind that have the ends capped and do not extend all the way under the truck (like the ones that come on the '04 F150's but for a '01). Is there a website that shows factory parts so i dont have to drive all the way to the dealership to see a picture in their catalog?
take a look at the DEE-ZEE brand steps. similar to the Ford and they're cheaper. I have them, and I like them. install takes about 20 min. in the stock holes. couple of pics in my gallery.
The least expensive way to getting the rails would be to check your local salvage yards to see if any of them have some wrecked vehicles. Save some money too! Just a thought, depends on what type of salvage yards you have in your surrounding area.
Do you know an online retailer that has good photos of "DeeZee" brand nerf bars. I like the styling of that brand but i am having a hard time finding a good retailer for step rails (not running boards).
Thanks Racerguy, the 5" Oval is exactly what i am looking for. I like the way it curves in at the ends but not all the way under the truck, very sharp! I am still trying to price them (the 1-800 # is closed until tomorrow), the almost identical styled "Manik" brand is $365 but is "pollished steel" instead of chrome, is there a big difference?
So is one better than the other? The chrome looks a little nicer but i dont want to sacrifice durrability. How long does it take for chrome to start to rust or pit?
