In an amazing revelation, they have admitted the green coolant was wrong and are now prepared to flush and fill with the gold/yellow/good stuff, at no charge to me. They even want to give me a ride to work and come pick me up when it's done.
I drop it off in the morning. Stay tuned.
One of the things I love about this truck, makes doing maintenance, especially in the winter, difficult. It's so huge, it will NOT fit in my garage. I'm working on that too (moving hopefully soon) but I will probably start once I have an adequate facility to do that in.
Thanks for the replies, hopefully everything works out. I have lodged an official complaint with Ford, so if I have any future problems with my cooling system, this fiasco is documented.
Well I have learnt a lot from this post. More than I asked for. I was just asking for the part number and I found out that I do not even need to change it yet. I thought you were suppose to change the gold stuff every 50K miles. That is where I am at now and that is why I asked how much to use and what part numbers. If this is true then you guys saved me a big headache over the Christmas holidays.
Thanks
I have a 2000 7.3 with the green stuff. I got in touch with Zerex and they said that I could replace the green with their gold with no problems. I've heard stories that this wasn't compatable. Has anyone tried it or know anyone who has.

Someone on the other forum says that Ford now approves the gold stuff in the 99s and up.
Why is everyone so afraid to mention the name of the dealer with which they are having a problem.? With that in mind, why not also mention the names of the dealers with which they are having reasonably positive responses to issues ??
I don't know if it's so much that people are afraid. I think it's more that nobody out of the poster's local area really cares who the dealer is, so why post the name?
Well, everything was resolved today. They flushed the green out and refilled with the gold. I talked to Ford tech center and they said without question the green and gold are compatible. But you should not mix. Use one or the other.
They (Graham Ford, Columbus, Ohio) were really giving me the royal treatment today. Dropped me off at work and delivered my truck to me aftewards. So I guess I'm happy, even though when I took the guy back to the dealer we checked the coolant and it was low. HA! I just shook my head. They added some more before I left.
I got to talk to the technician who said it was green, I said, didn't have any gold in stock huh? He just said, I could have sworn it was green. I said it's ok, I ain't gonna bust ya to your boss.
So in the end, I guess I'm happy, but what a hassle. Never even thought about mentioning their name. Althought I doubt I take my truck back there, they did make things right.
Is it ok to post Dealers names on this Forum? I see a good handful of guys here that live in the Seattle area. Ive had my experiences at certain Dealers......
Just wondering. I have the Green coolant in my 2000 Excursion. From what i'm reading there's a yellow coolant that has the additive in it already? I'm just wondering why wouldn't you have to add the FW-16 stuff after awhile & how would you flush out all the Green antifreeze? Thanks.
