Gold Coolant / Water Pump

I switched from the green to the gold coolant about 1200 miles ago. Made sure all the green was out. Went with the Zerex G-5 and distilled water. It appears the water pump is shot. Question: Could switching to the gold have an effect on the water pump? Perhaps it's just a coincidence.

i think it could be a coincendence. i have been running CAT ELC for 7 years now. even though its not reccomended. supposedly (i dont have written offical proof) theres a compatibility issue with the copper injector cups but thats supposed to be it. i also run coolant filters on all my truck so i think thats an advantage on my part. was that the factory original water pump?
