Some people believe that the Ford Gold suffers from silicate drop out that will plug the oil cooler faster. I don't necessarily subscribe to that theory, there are a lot of trucks out there that have been running around with Ford Gold for a long time without problems.
There may be some merit to the argument however. Also, the CAT rated ELC coolants are supposed to be good for 300k miles, as long as you test them and put in the required additives as necessary.
All I know is I was having puking problems with Ford gold. Flushed and filled with zerex cat EC1 and no more problems. Also lately I've noticed that my eots are actually dropping last month they were about 204 at 70 today I noticed them staying at 200-202 same speed. Also I've gone through a coolant filter that was fully plugged after 3k miles. Before I could go like 5k and it wouldn't have hardly anything. Its almost like the junk is breaking loose.
