I have a 2024 F-150 that came with automatic start stop.
I didn't like it and mostly turned it off.
A few months ago, President Trump signed something that eliminated the requirement for auto makers to have this feature on vehicles.
About the same time, my auto start stop went away. I no longer have to manually disable it and can't get it to come on (although I really don't want it on).
Has anybody else had this experience? Only thing I can figure is Ford sent out an update eliminating it.
Maybe some wire somewhere came aloose. Or a fuse blew. Or it’s in your head. Rest assured Ford has not done an OTA update to remove this “feature”.
Besides, if they did that and the next administration signed something to reinstate the requirement (very likely), Ford would probably be in some trouble if they weren’t able to reimplement on every truck they disabled it on for whatever reason.
Now if they deleted it on brand new trucks is a different story, but they wouldn’t retroactively remove from trucks it came with.
I'll get it checked.
But as long as it starts the truck, I am happy to have a slightly weak battery if I don't have to shut off the start stop. It was very cold here a while back and the truck started with no problem, so I don't think the battery is real bad.
Probably not "real bad". This is just a common early warning sign of a weak battery. They don't last as long as you'd think. If it was me I'd just plan to buy a new one before wintertime probably. By the time you notice "trouble starting" you are very close to "not starting".
How do you get all that stuff in your signature?
I have tried to add the 150 to mine a number of times and I am told that my signature is too long, can't be more than 6 lines (with the 150 added it's still only 3).
I haven't changed it in a long time, so I don't recall if I did anything special, but on my desktop computer with a big monitor, that's only two lines of text.
Works very well. Simply remembers where the switch was when the truck shuts off and puts it there after a start. So if you want auto start stop off, push the button, when the truck turns off it remembers that. When you restart the truck, it puts the button in that position, no need to push it. If you choose the turn it on, it remembers that as well.
The install for my F-150 was like 20 minutes. Connects in the wiring behind the glove box. Super easy. I put the same thing in my Caddie Escalade and that install was longer, basically because there was more trim to remove.
There are cheaper ways to do it, but, these are American made and I have put them on like 6 or 7 vehicles with no issues (first Ford, usually use Forscan). I wanted to rid myself of the PITA so installed that. I've had many doctor appointments since buying my truck, so haven't gotten around to updating my forscan license and getting it removed that way. This was just easier and quicker.
Should be noted I HAVE ZERO AFFILIATION WITH 4D TECH, I just loved the ease their products make getting rid of that nuisance.
