Throttle doesn’t open all the way.

To give some context, the previous owner has put one of the BBK throttle bodies on my 302. I am very aware that these trucks are very slow, but my engine is close to new and seems slower than some of my buddies, who have the same thing. Likewise, my throttle pedal is extremely stiff compared to my buddies. I have already taken out all the slack I can as for the throttle cable. I still can’t understand why when my pedal is on the floor the valves aren’t completely open and my truck feels sluggish, and doesn’t shift properly. I am pretty sure the second cable that runs from the throttle body has something to do with the transmission but I haven’t got that far. The moral of the story is that I feel like the throttle body isn’t connected properly or maybe it’s supposed to be like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have cruise control, that’s what the other cable is for. How did you remove the slack? Put spacers where it attaches to the pedal? One factor that could be playing, what gear ratio does your axle have? Same as your buddies? What trans?

Im not sure what gear ratio it has in the rear, but I know that it is wrong. When I put it in 4x4 it wants to bind up. That might be the issue. I have the E4od.

I wouldn’t put it in 4wd again until you verify don’t and rear have the same ratio and all 4 tires are the same size! Either one can cause a lot of damage, I’ve seen it! If you have 3.08s for whatever reason, that will be sluggish. If you have 3.55s and oversized tires, that will be sluggish. I have a 2wd with stock tires, I just recently put in 4.10s and I have a 302. Before it was 3.08s and then 3.55s, night and day! I’m not saying you don’t have a problem, but unless the trucks are exact matches, they won’t run the same anyways.

You cannot simply slap one of those on and go. There is a procedure in the instructions to set the throttle stop screw and TPS. I would start there to see if the PO followed the instructions. I blame the extra hard gas pedal on the piece of garbage BBK throttle body. The one I bought back in 2017 was so hard to move that the speed control cable (the other cable you mentioned) would pop off. Do yourself a favor and go find a used OEM throttle body.
