Matt,
Thanks for the invite. It's been 150 years since my great grandfather and his brother moved from Germany to this area of Pennsylvania. It would be neat to try to find some family still back there. Me knocking on your door is a stretch, but you never know. Strange things do happen! The passport just happened to come up when I was trying to get my real ID here. I added the passport to the bucket list for some reason and should have it back in a month. Trip to Germany?? I would for sure be out of my comfort zone!

Chris, Didn't know the reason for you getting your passport, that makes sense, and you never know when you might need it. That said, the offer stands regardless of how unlikely it might be for you to make it to Germany. Ironically, my Grandfather left some 110 years ago, but I still have family here, and the house he was born in, is still in the family, although I don't know that branch of our family very well. If you knew where your great grandfather and great uncle came from, chances are there are records... Sometimes, that kinda of stuff is fun, then again, who has time.

Hope all your projects stay on track, and the grass slows down growing long enough for you to get a drink or at least a breather before you need to start again.

Cheers from Germany

Matt,
You should be arriving in the states soon. Great you can make it to your dads birthday. The 28th of May, well my dad passed away on this date in 1998. I miss him.
Our world is changing here. Cheryl will be entering a nursing home next Tuesday. Not sure what my life will be like for a while.

Guys,
Thanks !
So I did have some time to work on the floor patch on the 66. Its actually going ok only slow and its no where going to be perfect. The smaller wire (.025 inch dia) seems to be working well. The new welding hood: I can see out of! In fact I had to take the cheaters out of the hood and it was clear!
So I did get this tacked in place:

rusty,
I saved the old Allis fork lift from the scrap pile. It runs but smokes bad. I converted from Propane to pump gas.

Folks,
Well a busy week. Cheryl probably went to probably her last car cruise in the Comet Thursday night. We stopped at the White Turkey ice cream stand and had root beer floats and onion rings. I think she had a good time!

Today I was able to spend some quality time with Cheryl in the nursing home. She fell and banged her head and nose last night. For her first day it was a little rough. She was back up moving and walking this afternoon. I sure miss her being here at home. Will be trying to find my new normal.

So I had some time this afternoon to look at the 66 floor patch again. Sorry I have drug this out some. I have spot welded about 75% of it. I did not get any grinding done.

Its going to be ok. Yes a little rougher than I would like but it is testing the old man and his skills! Using the cut and butt method for the seam.

Chris, beautiful 66! Do you have any background on the disc brakes? Still researching before I make a decision on mine.

MP&C, Folks,
I do not have any details on the front brakes as they were set up when I got the 66. But I did our 65 Mercury Comet and used Leed company. Good support and products from Leed. Watch rim fit to caliper clearance before assembly.
I did get a chance to do a little on the floor repair.

After grinding the welds fairly smooth I added seam sealer in and under cab repair areas.

Then some primer

Rattle can top coat

Cleaned up the passengers side and added seam sealer as needed

Installed the original rubber mat and the carpet and the shifter boot.

The Lokar shifter will be fine. and a safety improvement for sure! Thanks guys for alerting me to the original dangers.

Next was the steering column improvements. I tried to wire the new turn signal to same wire locations. But have something messed up. So have to start re checking that.

Lost the horn spring contact. Ordered two from Carpenter. This is what it should look like when done. That should be ok for an old shop truck?

Hope things are good. Going tractor pulling today.

Guys,
HELP!
I really need some help on the 66 truck wiring for the new Dennis carpenter turn signal switch. Ok I did not do a good job on the marking of the old wires! Lots of things in life more important than this right now. Cheryl is not good. Entered nursing home on June 5th and has steady decline. Dementia has its tight grip on her now. Very sad!
So I cannot use color coding of the wires because the carpenter unit has different colors in different places for the new switch.
What I need is the locations on the switch to the pin locations on the two plugs. a small 2 pin plug and the 6 pin location (The 6 pin plug has spot 2 open and I think pin 5 is the horn?
So I went and looked at the wires in a local 66. got the information re positioned my wires and still did not have functionality correct. Getting frustrated here. Obviously I am not a trouble shouter of electrical system. I have a Ohm meter and the truck is operational (has power) Any help would be appreciated! I would like to drive the truck this summer!! I know this is not rocket since but just above my pay grade. Still learning here. Even if some one could walk me through the trouble shooting portion???? HELP!
Thanks in advance! Here is my cell 814-four three four-86 five nine. Texting or talking!

Chad, Folks,
Thank you very much that may break the code for me! Would be nice to drive this truck!
Going to try to tackle it again.
Adam and I worked on the wiring for a couple hours last night. Some noodling and some trial and error and we got the combination on the seven wires The info you provided helped a lot!
Will try to get some pictures of the truck out in the wilds!

Chris,

I was sorry to read that Cheryl has not been doing well. Dementia, memory loss, Alzheimer's, regardless of the name, I doubt anyone on this site hasn't experienced a friend, or family member who has been down this road, and I'm sure we can all empathise and pray for you and your family.

As for your truck...well the mock up is looking great, and hope you are able to sort out the issues so you can hit the road.

As always, thanks for sharing, and keep up posted on your continued progress.
