My new to me 2001 F350 has a persistent warning chime i cant seem to locate the source of. Key out engine off when door is open it just keeps ringing, sometimes it doesn't do it but most times does. All interior lights and headlights are off and bell does stop once doors shut. What other circuits (with key out) does the warning indicate other then lights left on? Also would a scan be able to indicate anything? Was actually thinking bad headlight switch but dont want to just throw parts at it if there things i can look at.
Probably the key-in-ignition switch attached to the ignition lock cylinder.
I usually just permanently disable mine anyway by clipping the black-purple wire.
thanks i wondered if there was a way to just disable it. I know there really isnt a chime speaker to just clip. Where is the blk/prpl wire located, in the column? Going to try and correct it if i can but im not apposed to eliminating it.
There is no alarm/chime associated with the "dash light dimmer switch".
with the dimmer switch rotated all the way up the dome light and i believe the bed lights are held on. This would trigger chime to stay on (not the cause in my case)

No, it won't. There is no input to the warning chime circuit (in the GEM) related to the courtesy light circuit. The only inputs are the key-in-ignition switch, park/headlights, and the door switches.
