New to me as of today. 1997 f350 CC LB 4x4 XL 7.5 auto 122k . Headlights stay on ever so dimly when truck is running and switch is off. Lights go out with key off and everything seems to operate correctly for the most part. Did notice that the drivers door switch is not working so not getting warning chime, door open/headlights on. Wondering if this is related. Not finding much on this on line searching. Maybe ground back feeding?
Probably not the door chime since it's wired into the marker lights, not headlights.
Its probably not the headlight switch because it received power all the time and you said the lights turn off when you turn the ignition off.
My suggestion would be to have the ignition on and have someone watch the headlight while you pull fuses in the cab. When the lights go out, figure out what that fuse powers and go from there. I'm guessing it's a forgotten aftermarket alarm.

Lights only on dimmly when engine running. Engine off and key on not a problem. With engine running did as you suggested and pulled every fuse one at a time and no change. Did notice another oddity, no high beam indicator when high beams on but as you turn the ignition key off it flashes on the dash. So I know the bulb is good.
Thanks. Good to know. I have since noticed the door sticker/tag shows it was a Canadian build. Makes sense being that I'm in NW Montana near the boarder. One of the things that threw me off is they are so dim. I mean you can hardly see them in the day light and even in the dark it just looks like back feed through a ground. Not really doing any good.
Anything I can look at to make them brighter? Or how hard would it be to eliminate them?
Also any ideas as to why the high beam indicator does not indicate and what would cause it to flash when turning off the ignition? Maybe a combo switch issue? Not sure that it should but doesn't come on when key is on prior to cranking as a check.
The DRL module is located on the drivers side of the radiator core support. I would remove it from the truck and check/clean the contacts on the module and the plug.
thanks again . I think I'm going to go that route. I tried unplugging it and spraying electric connection cleaner up in both ends and reinstalling the plug and still have the same issue. Dim lights and no high beam indicator.
Just wanted to follow up. Truck is fixed. Turns out it did have DLR. Module was going bad. Decided against replacing the module and purchasing the jumper connector. Worked like a charm. I'd be indicator and park brake light work as they should and headlights are working and not working when they shouldn't be. LOL
