How to adjust throttle cable
I have a 1989 f250 and it has a 351 Windsor that’s efi. The acceleration is really bad and there is about an inch of extra throttle cable slack at the top of the gas pedal. I took off the air intake tubes and the butterfly valves only open about 1/4 of the way when it is floored. How do I fix this? I’ve seen the zip tie trick online but I’d rather fit it “correctly” rather than with zip ties. Any suggestions?

first, make sure you have the proper length cable.
there are 2-3 different cables, depending on what engine you have. my bet is someone put too long a cable in after the one they had broke

I have a 1996 F250 4x4 with the 5.8 motor, I've been wondering the same thing if my throttle cable has slack. I have not touched my idle adjustment screw on my throttle body, since in my opinion my truck's idle seems suitable for me around 700-800 rpm at the moment. I did recently pull an accelerator cable off a junkyard truck that has the same engine as mine, as a spare for the moment.

I fixed my cable a few days ago and I ended up putting a roll pin on it. I pushed up the gas pedal and there’s slack at the top of the pedal. When the pedal is up, put the pin so it’s like 95% of the way up. It fixed my pedal and it works great now.
