I am looking to finally straight pipe my OBS and get rid of the cat and muffler. I did the 3 in. downpipe upgrade and bellowed up pipes and all that a while ago. Soooo the hard part is done.
I am hoping to spend as little as possible and was wondering if I get a cat back system instead of the turbo back will I have enough pipe to delete everything?
Unless you are pushing good power, wasted money to swap the stock stuff. It is what 3.5"? These trucks maybe roll out 180rwhp bone stock and 230rw area on stock sticks tuned uncorked.
Yeah the downpipe is the only thing for performance. hence why I did it years ago. Now its just for my ears Haha.
Do you think it would also be just as fine to find some 3.5 in pipe and just cut out the cat and muffler? That sounds even cheaper
Oh yeah they were like 450 now. I dont want to drop that much right now. I checked and based on reviews it seems the 4 in delete pipe that MBRP doesnt fit the stock 3.5.
So I guess my best bet is something like this Summit Racing SUM-640254 Summit Racing™ Exhaust Tubing | Summit Racing
Then I weld or clamp it in? not really sure yet.
Absolutely no reason to drop that coin if on stock injectors. I know the stock 3.5 will support near 400rw, but average torque will increase with the 4" after a certain point
I am not running stock at all. I am pretty modified, but not like overpower. I am running 205/30 hybrids with efuel and adrenaline HPOP. The HPOP was probably overkill but after 300K just felt like doing the whole thing
Okay thats good to know. Right now I run gearheads and typically leave it at the street everyday tune sometimes jumping to the tow tune when I tow. I am not really one to go to hot tunes much. Although I am considering changing over to try JB tunes or something. Gearheads is sometimes kind of meh...
I might look into the 4 in set then and just replace it all from the downpipe back. I just want to make sure i get enough extra pipe to remove the muffler and the cat.
Do you plan on routing the exhaust over the rear axle? I cut my exhaust out near the back of my crew cab eliminating my muffler. I thought about kicking it out in front of my rear tire. But this morning I was thinking of just putting a shiny big tip pointing down right behind the the cab where the exhaust already routes. My exhaust is much more stinky after my performance upgrades and shooting the particulates to the ground may help instead of shooting it out to the side of the bed where everyone breathes. 🤷♂️
Y'all noticed after putting upgraded injectors in, your exhaust getting stinkier?
I guess I was planning on just having it route where it does now. I dont really care where it exits I guess as long as its at least behind the cab.
As for "stinkier", I don't think I noticed much tbh. Also it was years ago so I dont honestly remember too much.
