There is definitely a point to it. If your motor is stock, and doesnt have any chips or tuners installed, then the stock diameter exhaust will be plenty. Removing the cat and muffler will make the truck rev up quicker, especially in the higher revs. It is a relatively straightforward job, and lets the turbo whistle more, which is always a good thing in my opinion
The cat is a HUGE restriction in the exhaust. not only will it allow the truck to rev like a gasser when punched, it will also reduce your EGT's significantly, and with the removed muffler it will give a real deep tone to the truck, but there will be a litttle flutter sound from the turbo.
If you are in there I do suggest going to 4" pipe. the stock 3" is fine, and I have put it on a few PSD, I went with the huge pipes on mine because they realy help kill the exhaust flutter, added a really deep tone to the truck, and it realy whistles at idle now. but it realy comes down to a cost issue, 3" VS 4" the larger the pipe, the deeper the tone, and the better the flow.
