Yes install the new fuel pump to verify it works. I might run it for say a month then put the old one back in. Then you have a known good spare.

10-4 I’ll get it on tomorrow and if everything is working well as I suspect I’ll close out this post with a successful repair.

Pics of 1” spacer

Earlier I forgot to add the pictures of the 1” spacer…here ya go. Other than keeping things a bit cooler is there any other benefits from installing the spacer?

Is the spacer a 4 hole or open and the same for the intake manifold? Just want to know is all.

Yes there is another benefit from installing the spacer, it adds plenum space and that changes the power curve

I might be inclined to run on the 1" spacer for a month or so. We're running out of summer heat. Just to verify that the spacer fixed the issue. Then if a warranty issue I might try the new pump. Might even stay with the new and pack up the old one as a spare. Different strokes for different folks.

On some vehicles you can get a modest torque boost due to better atomization because of the extra height. There are no guarantees tho.

4 hole…does one vs the other make a difference?

I didn’t notice any torque difference, but I’ll pay attention to that the next time I drive. Today I replace the fuel pump. I’ll take pictures and let you guys know how it goes.

would there be a reason not to keep the spacer on the truck during the fall and winter? Ya I’m putting the new pump on as sorta insurance. I will keep the old. I’ll take pictures and post them before closing this out with helped and fixed 🤞🏼

I think you misunderstood. The spacer stays on all the time. But did it solve your hot start issue or is is an intermittant failing fuel pump? The new pump may have a warranty and if so I'd change to it and run it till the warranty period is up and beyond. I'd probably wait a month to do it just to test the spacers effect on solving the hot start problem. Hot weather is a hot start factor and we're running out of summer. If all goes well in the last of summer you know you fixed it with the spacer. Then I'd do the swap of the pump, knowing that I have a good used spare.

I read on Summit that the spacer can improve horse power and performance. Tell us what you think.

Check out Engine Master TV as they have done dyno testing of different spacers and types.

Officially closing out this post as fixed…thank you

Okay I installed the new edelbrock fuel pump and everything is working as it should. Stepping on the gas I can tell I have more power and it’s more responsive. I’ve attached a picture of each item I worked on. As of now I’ll say thanks for all your help as always. I officially close this post/ request for help out as problem was analyzed and fixed with the new 1” carb spacer and a new fuel pump.
