Just Starting Out

Hello all,

I picked up a heavy patina'd 53 F100 last year. My plan is to build it up brand new, with all the creature comforts, but not touch the patina.

There are surprisingly few actual rust-thru areas, and those I will fix. But aside from that, a high gloss clear to finish it off.

Full TCI suspension with a Gen 3 Coyote.

Just getting started at this point. Frame has been sand blasted and I'm starting to mockup suspension.

Thanks

Hey 53, welcome to FTE the best Ford truck forum on the World wide Web.

This is the place to get questions answered. Thanks for the pictures.

I see you have the standard and commonplace dented front fender which many of our 53-56 trucks have or had . There's a reason for that .

Welcome. I like the plans for your truck. I also like the shin guards on the frame. Wish I had done that.

I see you have a 1954 grille on it, was that added later or does it decode to a 1954 model?

Tom

...and yes the grill. I recently learned it was a 54, but the title is a 53. I guess I'm keeping the 1 yr newer grill as the patina matches

Nice, it looks like you have Farrah, Katherine Bach, and Cheryl Tiegs to help watch you work on the truck.

This is the stance I'm aiming for...

Trying to find wheels to fit and work with the willwood brakes is not something I'm looking forward to

It's always fun to look at someone else's enthusiasm. Have fun with your project. Don't be surprised if your plans change as you go along.

Thanks!

This isn't my first build, but it's the first that I won't spend 3 years on body and paint...

I could tell from the shots of your shop this isn't your first rodeo. That's a beaut!
At this age I'm trying to decide what to get rid of first and another full-on project makes me tired thinking about it! lol
