6.0 quietness

6.0 quietness
This maybe should be in the vrs competition forum, BUT has anyone been able to compare (with all 3 trucks side by side) which of the 3 (Ford Chev or Dodge) is the quietest? The Ford sales guy said Ford, of course the Chev sales guy said chev etc. From what I have heard the 6.0 ranks #1 for quietness followed by the Duramax and then the Dodge.

My wife liked her 99 7.3 better than she does her new 04.(11/07/03 build date) She like the way the 7.3 sounded. Says her 6.0 sounds whimpy. Only reason she got a new one is that she's a realtor in the country and needed 4wd & crew cab. Also tax reasons made it a no brainer, but she bitches about it every day.

As matt said, the dmax is far and away quieter. I owned an 01 and I'm still very disappointed by the noise this "quiet" 6.0 puts out. There's no contest here at all. The 6.0 flunks the drive through test EVERY time. It was rare that I had to shut my dmax off to be heard.

It truly does sound like an F-16 at idle

I hate to say this but it really is scary loud and extremely annoying.
The guy that I know that has done it, likes it at idle and when he is impressing people, going down the road he is starting to understand the phenomenon about, using sound as psychological warfare.

Shuting off may be rare in the dmax but its non existant in my X.

Really!? That Oct flash seems to be a disaster. They must be going to update again. I cant see worse fuel mileage, less power and noisier being what they expected to accomplish. Hope its soon. I didnt get my truck until after it was flashed so I have nothing to compare it to. But from what I am reading, I would have liked it better before.
