mn 6.0
No there is no implied or stated rule that you must own a 6.0 to be here and participate.
That notwithstanding, let us look at this. You are……..by your own confession ……..a DurMax owner.
Why then would you want to be here. Most, if not all of us, have a true affection for Fords.
By……..your own statements……..you do not have that same keenness.
Do you have your own site that you can go to and bitch about Fords
We do not go over there………..so why are you here.
Actually I like having you here, it gives us plenty of material to work with.
In response to my not owning a 6.0, I have access to the "latest and greatest" info. Would I be better off not providing it to those who are truly benefitting by that info?? I can certainly stop my conversations in this forum but I think all the owners who need good info would suffer..
No disrespect intended or implied mn6.0, but when you start bashing w/o looking for a true answer, it raises hackles.....
Well, since I opened up a can of worms I guess I'll set a few things straight. No I do not own a dmax, I traded in my 6.0 for an F-150 SuperCrew. I have no bias twords any vehicle or manufacturer. I have done auto body for a living for over twenty five years & think I'm pretty good at spotting good quality from bad. Up until a few years ago I was a big Chevy fan, but I saw some changes ford was makeing & have owned six Fords since. I call it like I see it, others may see it differently.I'm not here bash Ford in general since I just bought another one but my guess is, people might want to here the good AND the bad. Oh, I one question for emtabmm. Before I got rid of my 6.0, I heard you talk of a 2004 reflash. I thought it might be worth waiting for so called a friend at a Ford dealer & asked him to check it out. He talked to their computer guru & said he had not heard about that. I talk to my area Ford rep, he too knew nothing about it. Is there a bulletin or something somewhere that states this?
I'm going to have to go with 'mn 6.0' on this 1. I'm a happy DMax owner but also use the 6.0 at work. Having experience with both I think I can make a pretty fair assement. All Personal feelings aside - that 6.0 needs some work. We have some miles on the latest vehicle here at work and so far no problems but every other truck with that motor has had some sort of engine issue. The Duramax is a great motor but I also have an '03 - if I'd been in the market for a diesel a few years ago when the Dmax was first released I'd be driving around in a 'tried-but-true' 7.3 litre. As far as the question posted the Duramax is falls the lowest on the db scale, the cummins then the 6.0. The numbers don't lie. But between all three they are all pretty quite.

No, this is info I have received from the top guru's at ktp assy plant. I have the luxury of having contacts at both the ktp plant for super duty's and lap the plant for explorers here in louisville. And please, I am in here just to help if i can. You or anybody else. Every one talks about the bad all the time, it's refreshing to hear the good also. I have and will continue to provide support for all who ask.

That is a given. It will take Ford 2-4 years to work all the bugs out. That has been proven time and again. Doesn't mean that it is not a good ride now, just that it will be better....
Hey everyone! Please respect Emtabmm since he is helpful to most Ford owners and don't need to push him away whether he has 6.0 or not.
I am sure most others and I do appericate of him to share the latest information on any Ford vechiles.
Emtabmm, Keep up good jobs on helping many of us!!!
Agree just yelled my order at MCD's the other day.
Duramax is a lot quieter. If the duramax could get the engine running faster(turbo) I think I may convert.
Perhaps the manifolds are the issue? My passenger side was diagnosed bad.
Not to mention the 6.0 seems to have a lot more diesel smell than the duramax.
Anyone have recommendations on the best way to check for a leaky manifold?
Originally posted by 78fordman You notice all chevy diesels have been quiet, and all have been junk. The first year of the duracrap, they were snapping cranks, just like the 6.2.
Yeah, right. Mine and my several buddies 01's didn't have one problem. Go look on the GM boards. Do some searching on cranks and heads. You won't find many posts to read. Nothing like over on this forum!
Originally posted by Outwest I am a Chevyfan at heart, well I WAS until they came out with that new style. It has ZERO appeal to me looks wise. I think Chevy really dropped the ball on exterior styling. ( I do think they have the nicest cushiest interiors though)
I hear you. The new front end on the Chevy is no beauty. Check out the GMC version, though. IMO, it's the best looking truck on the market right now.
I manage a campground and i can tell you that the new HO Cummins is the quietest by a long shot. My 6.0 is as loud as an older Cummins since the Oct flash and still has no ***** below 1500 RPM. Mileage went from 18-20 to 15-17 That sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
