The IPR connector and pigtail are a known trouble spot, and a can fool the passing glance. The wires can actually turn to goo inside the loom. Between age, countless heat cycles, oil/diesel, and the current passing through the wire the insulation can just turn to jelly. The loom has to be removed and stripped back 6-8 inches or so to inspect the wiring for any signs of damage. There is also the possibility of air lock like I mentioned earlier. It wouldn't explain the truck dying on you but it would explain a no start now. As far as the truck dying have we nailed down why the reservoir was empty?
Makes a lot of sense. Thinking I need to go through the entire harness and replace pigtails if needed. I will check ipr and icp connectivity tomorrow. As far a reservoir I think it’s a non issue moving forward, has been full and staying fill this week. I might have assumed res was empty without actually physically testing level thoroughly but oil level in pan was below hash mark
on dipstick.

Was there oil in the rails when you took icp sensor out. If they were empty from when reservoir was draining it can't take some extending cranking to fill them. They hold a gold bit of oil.

No oil when i pulled icp at all. Spun engine for 2 rounds of 15 seconds, bone dry.

Pulled reservoir off did not see anything weird except small pieces of metal in reservoir backet. See pic.

Checked debris in reservoir basket with magnet and all appears to be aluminum.

What's going on here? I can't really make out the condition of the gasket for all the oil. If it was going to drain back to the pan that's the most likely spot.

Not sure what your question is. The larger hole if feed from lpop and the smaller is a return drain, much smaller but above your red circle to right. The other is a small dimple in metal section of gasket.

I was just wondering if there were any questionable spots in the gasket or mating surfaces in that area since it is the most likely place to develop a leak back to the pan.

Looking like a issue with the ipr valve or a bad hpop.

Oil is royal purple but truck doe not see much action of late so that could be a factor.
What do you think about oil?

Should oil be flowing out of icp opening when motor is turned over?
