A few are working on it but there are some problems about headers on a V-8 with a single turbo mounted top rear of engine in such a cramped engine compartment. I have not heard or seen anything on results.
There are alot of issues to be worked out in doing this. For one, there is very limited space in the engine compartment. Sure, a guy can gut it out and change everything around and build him a set of headers, but then you'd need a bigger turbo, and then the heads really don't flow well, stock. And currently there are few (if any) aftermarket valves, etc. to increase flow in the heads.
It's easiest to open up the exhaust turbo-back, with substantial gains in doing that. It's coming, but may be a little while yet.
Well, to put it simply, every little bit helps.
But this kind of mod is just getting some attention, so there are only a handful of guys out there that can contribute. From what I am told, the PSD will not respond to headwork JUST LIKE A GASSER. The real advantage for a gasser is going to an aftermarket head with bigger ports, runners, etc. There is nothing out there yet for the PSD.
It sounds strange, but we're doing things bass ackwards with the diesel by starting at the tail pipe and working inward. On a gasser you start inside and end up at the pipe.
In case DZLJIM doesn't resurface, I'll try to answer for him. His truck is far from stock, and he's done extensive work on developing a twin turbo set up for it. That's what I meant about his signature being tastefully understated.
