Reverse guidelines on screen

I have a 2016 f150 lariat and my reverse guidelines have intermittently appeared and then gone off lately.

To be clear, the rainbow and grey guidelines have all disappeared. The screen and camera work properly, radar works, just the lines decide to work and not work at their leisure.

To answer the obvious, no I did not turn them off in the settings, nor have I done any work on the truck that would have turned them off, such as computer or forscan stuff. They work, then they won’t work…

I have done my due diligence of searching every site and post I could find. It seems to me that it would be a bad connection or a sensor not working intermittently. I just can’t figure out which sensor and where would it be?? I would assume some type of steering sensor? But that doesn’t explain why it wouldn’t show on the screen… it would just not be showing the correct path.

Any help here would be appreciated. Why do they randomly show up sometimes? Where are the necessary connectors to check? Thanks.

The camera itself generates the guide lines and overlays that on the image before transmitting the video signal, if the guide line come and go at random then the camera is starting to fail.

Do NOT buy the cheap aftermarket cameras, they don’t work properly and you’ll never get the guide lines to work on them or zoom or any other feature.

Bite the bullet and buy one from a dealer, a lot of dealers are online and will have better (generally) prices then your local dealer.
