I had the dealership replace mine, no cost to me as mentioned below..Keep pushing the issue. Its ridiculous to have the station show all the time...Good luck
[QUOTE=jrb1]Is there any new news regarding the AM/FM radio with single CD & cassette and having time display automatically all the time?
I had my radio in my 03 replaced at the dealer but it wasn't easy. I kept after them and with the info from the FTE web site in hand I went to them and showed them what other's had done. With that info they finally got a new radio and it worked just like the one in my 00 excursion. The clock stayed on instead of having to push a button to get it to come on every time the truck was started. Keep after the dealer and tell them to replace the radio!! Good luck!
It took almost 13 months of complaining to the dealer every time I went in I'd ask if there was anything that could be done to fix the clock issue. But they kept saying no. It finally got fixed only after showing them the info that I had copied from the FTE forum, that others had had there radios changed out. This helped change there mindset and I had to be without a radio for about a week and a half while they got another radio. For some reason they had to take mine out first and order another one.
Out of the dash, two days at the radio shop, then back in.
The info in this forum allowed me to dispel the "that's the way its supposed to work" attitude from the dealership.
I did find though a busted tab on the floor mat; looks more like the radio's plastic rather than the trim piece.
Any need to raise it as an issue with them?
TIA,
Jim
Jim, glad to see everything worked out OK! I don't know if the tab on the floor is anything to worry about though. It is amazing that something as simple as having the clock displayed instead of the frequency could be so exasperating to get fixed. Every radio station is required to broadcast its operating frequency every ten minutes by the FCC, but most like to tell you every 2-3 minutes or more. So having the frequency displayed continuously was a mistake on Ford's part, or the radio manufacturer. If I hadn't owned a truck with the same radio before the 03 I probably would have thought this was the way it had to be. But I had an 00 excursion that had this same radio and it displayed the clock full time, and I couldn't believe it when the 03's radio showed the frequency all the time. Anyway glad it worked out and welcome to FTE you will find the information to just about anything here!
