Hey everyone! I got a bit of a problem. I got an 83 F100 and there is so much airflow coming from the firewall to the floorboard. I was wondering if there was anywhere that sells rubber grommets to fit the area (literally every hole in the firewall) to try and keep airflow out or maybe some tips to seal them up myself. Thanks in advance!
I don't remember that many holes in the firewall that have plugs. They usually have wires or cables in the holes. Something good to plug holes is the sticky aluminum tape you can buy in the store.
I am with Franklin there is something that should go thru them holes what happened to it?
Yea that tape works pretty good and you can tape them up and see if you still have air coming in.
If I had to guess the air could be coming in the kick panels (non-AC trucks) as they dont seal too good after the foam seal dries and falls off.
Holes in the floorboards under the rubber mat that the air can enter blowing up to the firewall.
Rust holes in the cowl, do you have water coming in also? Shine a light in the vent slots when a little dark out and then inside the cab look up behind the dash to see if you see any light coming in.
Now water coming in can also be from rust holes around the glass and under the molding.
If a manual there is a rubber seal where the clutch rod goes thru the floor that could be bad?
Also where the steering column goes thru the floor is a sealing plate that can leak.
I cant think of anywhere else holes could be after having my cab off the frame for a total rebuild.

Even if they are not open the foam seals turn to dust and no longer seal.
I left the kick panel vents when I added AC to my truck and know the foam is gone but the little bit they may leak is nothing in my truck and the heater will cook you out.
I also have new door seals and outer window rubbers too.
Dave ----
Can’t you disassemble the kick panel to replace the foam?
You know I have not looked into that if you can or not as I dont think mine leak that bad or at all to worry about it.
I just know there is foam used a seal to stop the air flow.
