Spindle seal

So I'm replacing my spindle bearings and seals. I'm having trouble getting the right seal. The one I took out has metal around the outside. EVERY place tries to sell you one that is just rubber with no metal. I tried it just to see, and it doesn't fit very tight in the opening. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Depending on the year, some had a metal "slinger" with a rubber seal on it. The newer ones are a metal/rubber seal.

The one at the back of the spindle is the one I'm after. I can't find it anywhere.

Or I should say, the one everyone tries to sell me is not like the one I took out, and does not seem it fit.

Does this look like it?? This one is called ....Axle Shaft Seal-Spindle End - Front Axle

If so it's NAPA part number.... NOS 15692

Attributes
Axle Shaft Seal I.D. : 1.568"
Axle Shaft Seal O.D. : 2.625"
Axle Shaft Seal Width : 1"

If your local NAPA store doesn't have it in stock they can order it, there are 430 of them in their distribution centers and 226 in stock at the factory.

Thanks, I'm going to go with this. Don't know why I hadn't tried NAPA. I've been to three other places though, all wanted to sell me the same wrong thing. At least this one isn't the same, and it appears to be right.

There are two seals for the back of the spindle, one the same diameter as the spindle bearing And a bigger one, witch are you looking for ?

Either way, they both should come in a spindle bearing kit. 2 seals a thrust washer, and a bearing usually.

The one that is the same diameter as the bearing is the only one I saw on mine when I took it apart.

The bigger seal stays on the stub axle shaft.

You may find this info from another forum to be handy: Dana 60 front axle bearings and seals

The drawing and info is there for both spindle seals, items #57 and #58.
