4 barrel on FT engine

Hello everyone,

This might be a dumb question as in theory it should make more power.... but putting a 4-barrel intake and carb on a 330 be beneficial? I realize I will probably burn more fuel but I'm not too worried about that being what the truck is.

A lot of time and expense the change the manifold, might work as well to just put # 60 jets in the 2bbl and retune.

The engine is currently on an engine stand due to exhaust manifold issues. I have all the associated parts. Not trying to be rude at all but I was curious if it would be beneficial as in having a little more power, not really worried about the time it will take. The only thing that will cost money would be the carb kit for the 4 barrell.

Save your money. Your 330 is governed to about 4000 rpm. You won't be able to use the extra capacity of the 4bbl.

Tuned up, the 2bbl will give you all you can use.

The problem is a small engine with small valves operating at low rpm.

The intake is off of a 391 as is the carb, so it's a direct bolt on, just thought it might be beneficial. 391 I'd relatively the save minus the displacement.
that's why I was wanting to swap, plus I plan to efi it and add some sort of forced induction at one point.

It will run cleaner with the 2bbl. But it won't harm anything to try if you have the parts already.....

The 330 doesn't have the swept volume of the larger engine, and you can't spin it faster to compensate, so there's little advantage to to the larger capacity carb. and manifold. If you could spin it faster, sure, but you can't. These engines break if run very long at 4k.
