I’ve attached a few pictures of what my injector cups look like on my 6.0 f250. I am asking for opinions on if these are fine or if I should replace them? Would the copper washers seal around the nicks and scratches or would they have to be replaced? This is just a lot of work and I be doing this with the heads on the engine since the heads were replaced recently. I just wanna save time and money with this….
If they do need to be replaced, what sealant should I use when installing the cups?
difficult to say. It depends on the depth of the deformation on the sealing surface. The damage is caused by injector installations where the sealing surface has not been cleaned or has been cleaned insufficiently.
I would use new sealing washers and paint the copper ring with a black marker after fitting it to the injector. Then install with half the torque and remove again. If the contact pattern on the sealing surface is even, I would fit new copper rings.
Otherwise, the sleeves must be replaced.
