I can't imagine it would make under hood temps any hotter than they are with the stock setup. The factory EGR pipe, while shorter, gets as hot as the Fass set up feeding the EGR cooler off the passenger side exhaust manifold.

Plus having a hot turbo and exhaust manifolds under the hood, it's already hot under there. Down the line when I'm retired, I'm going do look into venting the hood again. The old cut out material can be used for rain diverters to protect the alternator or anything else that wouldn't like water.

yes vents are cool

and they dont need to be that big

this one is about 3" by 5" which would fit within the support reinforcement ...... one on each side and some lights .....cat eye effect.

Those are ugly but thanks for sharing... one thing about vents is IMO, you've got one big inlet in the open grill so why not match the size of the vents, outlets, to the size (area) of the grill?

Our grills let in a lot of air and theres no where for it to go... if you open up a decent amount of area on the hood, I'd imagine you would set up some good flow going in and then flowing out, taking that heat with it.

Now all that said, Im not saying you have to have a front grill opening size hole on the hood, but you catch my drift.

I tried to look for those emails back and forth with the guy from Run Cool Hood Louvers but can't find them... might have to start another new discussion with them again...

But these will be what I go with when I do it. On the bucket list but other stuff first...

And for everyone else, YMMV...

Keep in mind that the hood has folds which I will call tunnels that pull air from the rear engine area to the front of the radiator.

so if you cut into the hood…you might cut into that air stream

This is the hood I would like to get.

https://www.cervinis.com/17-18-super-duty-ram-air-hood.html

bought one for my previous truck but back then it was 900 plus 500 to paint to match…both sides. Now they want 500 to paint to match each side. So 2000 now.

wouldn’t mind getting a cut thru my hood bolt on billet vent kit .

I remember the guy saying two different things about having vents closer to the front and at the rear of the hood.

When I sent an email to them, I sent a couple of pics of my hood. They used to make a big one, which i dont believe they offer anymore, that i was going to put in the center of the hood. I was going to keep a section of the hood there, where the windshield fluid nozzles are, and then cut a section of the louver out where the nozzles would go...

Read through some of those articles they have... lots of info. I want to do mine for function over form... I am going to look into this deeper when I do it and will pick the brains of the guy from that company.

I do remember him also recommending a pair of them but they are many on there...

I stand corrected... they do offer the one i wanted to use... available on back order..

Little info here...
