I guess there are different types of short ribs. My friend shows up with what you have there Rob. I like to occasionally get this type of "plate ribs" which is what you get when you order short ribs at a fancy restaurant.

Plate ribs come from a different part of the cow. Short ribs are Chuck. Those are the bones next to the short ribs. Plate ribs are the bones attached to the prime rib. They sell the roast or rib eye steak boneless . Plate ribs are the trim . I don't see them in grocery stores. Usually find them in butcher shops.

Ah, ok. Yeah, I get them at butcher shops. I used to be surprised at the sixty dollar price tag, but it seems to be the going rate at this point. That's why it's occasional. I do enjoy the "smoking them for hours" aspect of it though. You can tell how done they are by how much bone starts to reveal itself.

You are paying for the ribs from someone else's prime rib. Another customer has to buy a prime rib roast, without the ribs. You could buy a prime rib, carve off the bones, and have both.

Good tip! I might try that.

Last night I had what might have been the most tender meat I've ever had. My buddy owns about a 180 acre ranch about 400 yards from me. He did catering for 30 years and has his cooking skillz maxed out lol. I don't have a pic, and I don't remember what the cut was, but it was about two feet long when he threw it on the BBQ. He also made some epic buttermilk fried chicken and a casserole like au gratin potatoes. It might have been the best meal I've ever had.

Here's the barn where we played pool, drained beer cans, and told lies.

Sounds like a skirt steak. The piece under the rib cage.

No, it wasn't a skirt steak. Those are awesome too, but this was a choice sirloin or something like that. I'll ask him.

NFL Sunday. I'm doing some prep work. Due to marriages, dating, and mating, we have a somewhat diverse clan. A lot of demographics. All mixed up and trying not to kill each other. Left to Right. With Super Tuesday coming up.

An unnamed person says to me: "This is what I'm talking about. Underserved minorities don't have access to the same nutritional value. It's an inequity which leads to poor health, and children perform at a lower academic level. There's an advantage when you have better nutrition."

Okay. What do you want me to do? Go down to the ghetto and hand out fresh ginger and green onions? It's sold at every Safeway. It's not my fault that an entire segment of the population is buying junk food instead of fresh produce.

I went back to grating ginger. I don't think I can solve underperforming academic achievement with garnish. The Cowboys lost again. Somebody should teach Dakota Prescott and CJ Lamb about nutrients in fresh produce.

To quote Dak Prescott: Here We Go......

Chicken marinated in beer and soy sauce. 1 can of beer. Half a can of soy sauce.

I replaced my head lights on my truck last weekend and I have very little to no adjustment in raising or lowering them , after I talked to a mechanic about it , I know a possible fault that I did , the new lights come with a seal gasket , I forgot to take the factory seal gasket off and mated both together, no wonder trying to twist them in was so hard , and some of the prongs may not have made it in straight making one light great for Owl hunting and the other looking for nitecrawlers , well back to pulling the front grill back off and 5 bolts for the headlight housing

How did you get the lights out? My driver side headlight needs replacing but the radiator support is so close to it I don't see how I can get it backed out enough to replace it.

edit: Never mind, your truck is totally different than mine. I thought I was replying to 5150. LOL

I learned a valuable lesson this afternoon. I have one of those vacuum chamber vacuum sealers, DO NOT try and vacuum seal marinade made with beer. It foams up and out before I figured out where the emergency stop button was.
