What a great build! I'm also doing a restoration on a '71 4wd with a 4" lift but I did decide to keep the long bed (I love lifted long beds).
I finally finished with the frame, suspension, brakes, and just got wheels on it for the first time in years. I am finally about to start the body work and wanted to ask a couple questions if you don't mind:
1 - Since I will be doing the body work and painting I am curious to know what primer did you use after getting the body to bare metal? In my research I'm leaning towards an epoxy primer. I have the entire body in pieces everywhere (not our together) so as I get the pieces to bare metal, I'd like to just quickly primer it to prevent flash rusting. What do you recommend? Did you rattle can it? I have proper painting equipment (large enough compressor, gun, etc) but is it worth it to use it on a piece here and there as I strip it to bare metal or would it be more convenient to rattle can it? Thanks!
I noticed your build as well. Looks like you’re making good progress
Definitely want an epoxy primer on bare metal. I used DP40LF on most of mine. I'm almost at the end of my painting saga, and have used some Omni MP170, since that is what my local shop carries. I think a quart was about $100 This gallon was about $700 i think, back in 2017
I’m getting back surgery next Wednesday 26th of February so I won’t be working on the pickup for probably a couple months. I should be getting the Dana 44 front housing back tomorrow or Monday. I had all new spider gears and bearings replaced along with 409 gears ratio to match the 411s in the rear but won’t be able to do anything until I heal
I’m in the same boat as you. Blew my back out last weekend and meet the surgeon on Monday. I’ll hit you up when we’re a little more healed on that hood.

So I'm finally at the stage of doing body work and paint. I meant to ask earlier, what method did you do for stripping the paint to bare metal?
Do you still recommend the epoxy primer that was mentioned earlier?
What body filler and glaze do you recommend?
Thanks! I hope your back surgery goes/went well and you heal fast.
I have a cleaning laser that I used on the door jambs and hard to sand areas. The outside areas just a da with 80 grit paper. Yes the same epoxy as mentioned. As for body to filler I use 3m platinum and 3m glaze
