I used to lengthen and shorten truck frames and never did any plating and never had a break. I get it more is always better but not needed
You've got one plate on the inside. I would think that's sufficient. Adding a second one to the outside I could actually see as an issue. More isn't always better.
Since you are going to be towing a trailer, i would seriously look at what Justin sent. Adding a plate on the outside of the frame that is round or angled is a good idea. Keep you and the stang safe!

There is a plate on the inside. Whether it's inside or out shouldn't matter I wouldn't' think.

Thank you. A lot of it is how it is welded and the quality of the welder machine and welder him/herself. There is 3 weld passes done and a plate. I did truck frames straight cut without a plate with a guy who did that for 45 years and never had one break. We did the frame on a kenworth dump truck while the box was up dumping it tipped over. The front wheels were on the ground and the rear were sideways. Full twist in the frame and no break. I’m not worried about it
