What a great build! I'm also doing a restoration on a '71 4wd with a 4" lift but I did decide to keep the long bed (I love lifted long beds).
I finally finished with the frame, suspension, brakes, and just got wheels on it for the first time in years. I am finally about to start the body work and wanted to ask a couple questions if you don't mind:
1 - Since I will be doing the body work and painting I am curious to know what primer did you use after getting the body to bare metal? In my research I'm leaning towards an epoxy primer. I have the entire body in pieces everywhere (not our together) so as I get the pieces to bare metal, I'd like to just quickly primer it to prevent flash rusting. What do you recommend? Did you rattle can it? I have proper painting equipment (large enough compressor, gun, etc) but is it worth it to use it on a piece here and there as I strip it to bare metal or would it be more convenient to rattle can it? Thanks!

I hardly ever use rattle can primer or paint. I’d get a good epoxy primer. I used omni epoxy primer for all bare metal it is about $80 a quart but well worth the money. I spayed two coats on. Epoxy is hard to sand I’d get the tech sheet on whatever brand you go with. You can spray urethane primer right over epoxy once it has dried for a while the tech sheet will tell you how long to wait. That will make sanding and blocking much easier
