my 1999 F-350 super duty 4wd went totally dead while i sat at my daughter's practice and had no tools ... the battery is new and good ... there then started an intermittent buzzing sound under the dash ... i had played with the battery cables and tried to turn on the ignition ... there is an occasional intermittent response of instrument lights and door buzzers very briefly, then nothing!

Have both battery cables been inspected for soundness? The bad ground connection is a good thing to check but its also possible some part of the heavy current conductors could have failed due age and deterioration.
