Anyone know what bucket or other alternative is a direct fit to replace the front bench in my truck?
Current front bench:
full bench, split back 50/50 burgundy cloth.
It's in great shape, I would just prefer leather / pleather buckets.
oddly the rear seat is a vinyl or manufactured leather bench and the front seat is cloth.
The only direct bolt-in thing I am aware of is if you get the 40/20/40 split bench from an OBS truck. Those sit on a cradle that bolts to the bench seat holes in the floor.
I put captain's chairs in mine but I had to drill all new holes and brace up the floor.
do you have before and after pics? any issues accessing the rear bench after the new install?
that is what I was hoping to do but wasn't sure if it would be too much to bother with. was the end result what you were hoping for?

same thing i did with my 88. got a set of supercab captains chairs free when the driver seat backrest tube broke.
20 minutes to take the rear cover off, weld the tube up, and reinstall the cover and all was good again.
only difference is i put them in a regular cab.
but the passenger seat lower flip assembly is still on it so accessing things behind the seat is a breeze by simply flipping the seat forward like letting someone in the back seat.
any issues accessing the rear bench after the new install?
It's easier as the captain's chairs slide forward when you tilt the back.
was the end result what you were hoping for?
Yes, for sure, but I did not find out about the need to brace the floor until it started cracking under the load and a friend of mine showed me the bracing that Ford puts in with factory CC's.
Out of curiosity, what other Ford seats would bolt onto the track of the 40-20-40 seat tracks for the standard cab or the crew cab. Would Mustang or ??? work for the job? Good cores are a little pricey and not as plentiful as they once were. Seems like obs bucket seats are now around the $700.00 and up price range without tracks, center seat / console, brace, or seatbelts. Fox body and SN95 are plentiful in the wrecking yards.
With your description, I am assuming that you have an extended cab. I have a 94 and it had a bench seat. I found out that there is a seat pan that is a direct bolt. You can then mount almost any bucket seats you desire.
Only bad thing about doing it that way is you don't gain the ability to adjust the seats independent of each other. Back seat legroom is at an absolute premium in these cabs.
On top of that one piece seat bracket that spans the width of the cab? I would imagine that would put the seats uncomfortably high.
Actually, the seats do slide forward and backwards. I had at one time put in the bucket seats from an F150, but they did make me sit too high. So, I found another set that sits lower and I have to say, more comfortable.

Where did the seat pan come from?
Im not sure there were any ford bucket seats in '89 so not sure there is a seat pan that would fit like what you have?
