I’m doing okay, Our Son is on Staff at the Scout Camp at Butte Meadows (Zone But-BM-236) and is making his way home after the Camp Self Evacuated. Smoke hasn’t been too bad so far. So now we sit and wait.
Not quite real time, but they provide a lot of information.
+1
My SO has that on her phone, and keeps me up to date.
Also, if you see a smoke column of any kind, you might consider installing Smoke Point on your phone. It was developed by one of our local firefighters in La Honda. The idea is that you point your phone at a smoke column and get an azimuth to a known fire. Your data along with any other Smoke Point users, and they can pretty quickly triangulate the origin of a fire. It works.
Happy Friday No-Cal. I am glad I am not affected by any local fires. There was a large scrapyard fire reported in the news today, but not close enough to be a danger to me. In other news, it is supposed to be under 100 degrees this weekend, with temps at 97 and 96 degrees. Maybe that will be enough to curtail the AC for a couple of extra hours. My bill is "projected" to be $105 this month according to PG&E.
Two days ago, I was on FB and clicked on a story about "13 things people do to their car that shorten its life". When I got to the article it then said "33 things people do that could shorten your car's life. And it was full of ads. So, I clicked out of it. Ever since, I have been getting a notification from McAfee that my computer is infected, or that my credit card has been declined, or that my subscription has expired. I don't use McAfee, I use MS Defender, and it doesn't tell me that. I have tried to find the offending software, but to no avail. So, currently, I am just living with the constant reminders they keep posting every few minutes or so.
178k acres burned? Oh my goodness. That is a lot of damage.
Jim
Unfortunately, it is running ahead of the wind and is now approaching 300k acres. 😱 Evacuations are happening all of the way to CA-44 in Shasta County. Keep everyone up here in your thoughts and prayers.
My Son took this at a friend’s ranch over 15 miles West of the fire. The west side of the fire is primarily CA oak and pine savanna which burns quickly.
We were looking at the fire north of Chico, and it appears the eastern edge of it is approaching Paradise, the town that was more-or-less leveled just a few years ago.
