2002 Excursion Limited Engine cuts off

Having a problem with my Excursion. The engine just stops…..totally random. There has been no rhyme or reason for it cutting off…..foot on the gas, foot on the brake, going 60mph, going 10pm, rain, sun, just totally random. The engine just cuts out, then the vehicle will drift for a few seconds and power goes off. Turn the ignition key off for 40-60 seconds and it starts like nothing happened. This can happen 3 times in 10 minutes or go days or a week before it happens once and then behaves normally.
The following has been done so far:
changed air filter, cleaned the throttle body, replaced crankshaft position sensor, replaced fuel filter, replaced cam sensor, cleaned throttle body again. No scans appear.

Took to dealer previously scanned and showed DTS DIAG P023. Second mechanic got no codes. Dealer took no action on the code.

We are at a loss as to what is going on. There’s no regular timing to the incidents happening. Has anyone experienced this? How was it resolved? Can it be fixed?

I had a similar issue on 2 different excursions.

First time, it was a bad battery cable. Yes, I have 2 batteries. But I guess it was enough of a voltage/amp drop that the motor would shut off. Fixed the cable and redid all the connections/terminals.

On the other excursion, it turned out to be a bad battery. 2 battery setup on this one as well.

In both cases, it would crank just fine. Idle fine. Drive around fine. Then randomly die no matter the other conditions. Sometimes goes days between without dying. Other times, would die pretty quickly.

Both cases, it would sometimes throw and oddball code and other times, it wouldn't throw a code. I don't remember what codes, but they had nothing to do with the problem.

Do you still have your original fuel pump? Mine would just stop and then after a few minutes it would start again. Until it didn’t , only 55K on the pump replaced and no problems since. Common problem on the Excursion/ Super Duty

Many years ago, I had an SUV that did that. After numerous mechanics and $$$$ turned out to be loose negative ground cable on block.

As old as these vehicles are, I'd suggest you clean all the grounds you see and for sure the block ground

X2 - check all the power connections - battery terminals, positive cable near the battery connector for corrosion in the cable, GND cable to block, GND straps from the PCM, main post in fuse panel from battery, etc.
How many miles and has the fuel pump ever been changed?
My guess is the fuel pump is sticking.
Also, check the fuel pressure at idle and running to see how steady it is.
There is a test port on the fuel rail to connect a gauge.
Check the voltage getting to the Inertia Cutoff switch, power goes from there to the fuel pump.
The fuel pump may be sticking/stopping or the fuel pump relay may be cutting out.
When the ignition switch is turned from OFF to ON power will be applied to the fuel pump for a few seconds to prime the fuel rail.
You should be able to see the voltage pulse at the Iinertia Switch and the fuel pressure at the test port.
The hardest part with the tests is catching it when it has died.
