Hey everyone, recently blew up my tranny and looking for some advice and info. 95 powerstroke with an E4OD, 180/30 injectors, and hydra, fuel and oil wise and engine internals are stock for the time being, but my injectors say they will only be able to end up around 385HP tops, not sure how much torque it will end up making, looking for suggestions on rebuild kits and a torque converter that would best suit my set up, I’d like to be as cost effective as possibly since I don’t have a ton of money to throw around but also want to do everything right. I’m 18 and I drive like it sometimes so I want something that will hold up to a little bit of pressure and occasional playing around. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
A good shift kit and a good low stall torque converter will hold up up for a while granted your not doing boosted launches or brake powering in OD to do burn outs.
A good rebuild will be north of 5k maybe even more now days.
check my sig picture that's a 15k load, i have a stock rebuild with all updates with a triple disc low stall TC and shift kit and I ain't easy on the throttle when towing and my trans has held up my abuse good, I don't make huge power with my 160/0's but it's a great injector for what I do with my rig.
I would do a mild build on trans with all the updates, a good quality triple disc low stall TC and a shift kit, install new radiator and new bigger trans cooler (one from a 99-03 super duty gasser or diesel or go all out and install an 03-07 6.0 transcooler. The biggest killer of a trans is heat.
start saving some dough because you will never see that power mentioned with out supporting mods like
-E-Fuel
-Upgraded HPOP
-Inter cooler
better turbo (to actually be efficient) and not over powering it and causing it to blow up
-valve springs (because the stock ones are old and are soft even when new and with added boost your valves will be making out with your pistons if you do a lot of WOT, ask me how I know)
There's a lot more money that can be thrown to it but those are the basics that will make your ride reliable with out pegging the EGT gauge.

Just since OP says he’s 18, I’d recommend instead building and applying savings toward whatever education or vocational training he sees fit unless he’s already got that taken care of.

I already have that taken care of, I’m a full time diesel mechanic for the past year and they pay for any training they send us to so I’m good on that sense

okay thankyou, what do you mean or how do you prevent doing burnouts in overdrive?
And yes I know I won’t get that power with out the other stuff, I was just saying that that’s the max I will push as I don’t plan to go bigger with injectors, so my trans only needs to be so big to hold up to that stuff
