The state doesn't appear to have a dbA level like others - however, there might be local or other laws that do. Still, the modified muffler is still definitely not up to snuff....
Kansas Statue § 8-1739 Mufflers and noise suppressing systems.
(a) Every vehicle shall be equipped, maintained and operated so as to prevent excessive or unusual noise. Every motor vehicle at all times shall be equipped with a muffler or other effective noise suppressing system in good working order and in constant operation, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, bypass or similar device.
(b) The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.

Thank you for that absolutely wonderful and kind message.
You have accomplished absolutely nothing by saying that other than showing your true colors.
I hope you feel good after that.
Bmoran, that is very true and I understand, it is a risk that I knowingly take when I do this.
Me and my buddies all run straightpipes and we know the risk we run doing so.
I shouldn't have suggested that others do that without mentioning the risk involved.
Maybe, in retrospect, it would have been better for you not to have mentioned what you do with your mufflers at all. It seems like you have been down this road before. As a citizen in your state and country, you must realize you have a duty to obey the law, whether you agree with it or not. If you are openly breaking the law, you'll find I think, it's best to keep it to yourself. If, on the other hand, you openly brag about breaking a law, and even go so far as to encourage others to follow your example, you shouldn't be surprised if responsible adults call you out on it.
I understand criticism hurts, but with a little forethought you could have avoided this. Next time think about how what you are writing about is going to be received by the adults that gather here on our forum.
So, it's pretty simple, if you want to get along here and become an accepted contributing member, respecting the law and those whose duty it is to enforce it is one of the things you should always do. There are other things, of course, but some of them we've already talked about, and we don't need to go there now.
Listen to what's been said--learn from it--and we will all move on. Your next post--if you want it to be--will be better received.
Moderator - is it possible to just delete this thread since (with all due respect) it has become "teenage girl drama" with nothing to do with old Ford trucks? I don't have an issue discussing other brands as long as it is on topic with our old trucks and benefits the group. I ask this be removed because i fear that threads like this will drive away the "old guard" which are the main contributors of the technical information that is needed by all of us. I love this forum group, have met in person, many of the folks on here and although we are from different backgrounds their is a mutual respect that I would like to see maintained.

ford/gm/mopar are we all not hotrodders? how many others are in here that also post in the HAMB https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/ ?
how many build hot rods? for how long have rodders been stuffing chevy's in fords? lets simply have fun . ho
Hi Charlie, no we are not all hot rodders here as I am sure the big job truck guys and the antique FORD TRUCK owners here would confirm.
It's called the "Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum"
Not very many of us for very long, that is not the most friendly place to be, but that is where the original poster should be, but I think it would be a short visit

Wade, you make valid points. My argument is that the majority see this thread as a teaching / learning thread. With one snotty exception reply, I believe the OP is paying attention and willing to learn. I do believe he might learn something from what some of the "elders" have written.

Oh by the way, ... I am a Hot Rodder.
Agreed. I am not a hotrodder, I don't look at HAMB. This is the only forum I visit.
I Like old Ford trucks because I have one. And I prefer stock looking trucks.... with black bumpers! LOL
I have no interest in reading about putting an engine in an old Impala, even though I was a tri-five Chevy car guy in my youth. I owned a 55 and a 57. My brother had a 55 and 2 57's . Heck, I would probably be a Chevy truck guy if I had bought Dad's 48 Chevy 5 window pickup instead of Grandpa's old Ford.
I agree with Cruisetopdown.
I taught HS for 33 years. I knew lots of brash young guys like Diesel Dog. I got along with them. I could joke with them. But being a nice kid doesn't give him a reason to post things that are totally against our reasons for belonging to our forum.
Yes my initial defense of this thread was with an interest in most things motorized ( which this thread is not ) and with the knowledge that if it was unwanted it would simply die without participation ( which it has not ) .
I think that's a good choice under the circumstances. You'll probably be able to use the general flow of conversation here to keep those of us who are interested informed about your other projects and how they are going for you. This forum, I think, takes a personal interest in the members posting. We'll take a personal interest in you if you let us.
