(Performance and General Engine Building--lots of folks are multilingual here and some speak fluent Chevrolet. My tip on the 283 would be "LS SWAP")
I wasn't going to comment until I see a flathead in a 78 Vette. I would have loved to have heard that design conversation.
We do go off topic, but having a full on 61 Chevy build is a bit too far off topic for me.
Myself I don't care what brand it is as long as older cars are being saved from the crusher and but back on the road. That being said post a pic, I think the place you may want to try is Jalopy Journal H.A.M.B. Forum would be the best place for this to go and not get heat from members.

Just check your feeling at the door and have a pair of asbestos undies when go there. They don't play as nice there as we do here.

LOL... I must have thick skin. If I'm asking for help, I know there are some people that have to be negative... I take them like I do a grain of salt (I don't use much salt) and If they doesn't like what I have to say, then don't ask me!
Diesel your only mistake was asking people what they thought. Just post pics and ideas of your car without permission. If the Mods don't want it here they will move it to OT or General area. And you can still post it there now.
Could you imagine trying to date a girl but only after asking what all of your own friends and her friends thought first? We'd go extinct in 50 years lol
Most of the guys on this board wouldn't be here if they asked their significant others what they thought before entering the hobby. That's not just a joke.
Who cares what people think, just do it.
If the mods don't like it they'll relocate it.
There's a lotta OT crap posted improperly here in the "48-56" forum. doesn't bother me one bit, and honestly I think it gives this forum a special bit of "life" most other forums don't have.
I'm sorry for being a broken record, but I daily drive a factory stock '56 Ford F100. I could never be considered a "Ford guy", I'm the furthest from it. A list of my 25 favorite vehicles doesn't have a single Ford in it; I'll never build or buy another Ford ever again other than the ones my dad gave me for FREE. Why do I come here? Cause I like it(and it's gotten me outta a few pickles). I and most others could care less if you post non-Ford stuff.

LOL! This hit home. A few weeks ago as I was driving home with an engine attached to half a frame and a seat, I said to myself that I need to get this in the shop before my wife gets home.
Also the top thread is a sponsored thread titled: 15 most inappropriate dresses on the red carpet.....what the heck! And I just went back and it was gone....no telling....
...on the other hand, we do all try to get along with each other--like in a big family. We have differences, as we discover every now and then, and sometimes we are passionate about these differences, but we do always try, I think, like in a family or marriage, to patch things up and not deliberately antagonize each other. Sometimes we need a little help from our friend Morris. We have something special going on our forum. Let's all do our part to keep it that way.
DieselDog, you are young and new, but can learn how to get along here if you want too. We hope you do.
Ive had the last tendency to call people out when safety is an issue or incorrect information is given. Oh if you guys could have seen the private messages I got in support over some of these previous posts. There is a lot of chatter via private messages and or text/emails.
Ive been sitting back watching the kid, He was an example of one I called out for safety in his beginnings here.
I also have a problem with someone who can't admit they are wrong and that puts fuel to my fire. I'm not proud of who I ran off here as they were a great contribution most of the time, but when information was down right incorrect, I'd call him out and he never once admitted fault or that I could be correct. (Number dumy)
now Chevy build talk? That's just crazy talk in a Fomoco forum
with no name to go with the youngster, if he didn't has such crazy talk sometimes, I almost wondered if it was "Julie" trolling us
My name is in my signature...
Paul Ary
And yes I own a 2005 ram 2500 Cummins that was my late father's work truck.
That is not where I got my nickname, it came from a random name generator from a game called Offroad Outlaws.
that is my expression when reading the Julie crap as we have already been over this before.
Not sure why this is even a discussion . There have been many examples of ot builds - repairs . I had a thread ( which I cannot find ) with the total loss rebuilding of my wife's subaru that seemed to be accepted . We are all gearheads to some extent . My thoughts are , start an ot thread if no one is interested there will be no discussion and it will die on it's own . If you don't like a thread don't look at it . As for the hamb I signed up as was on for 2 weeks then asked admin to remove all of my info and registration as I feel there are enough A holes in my regular life .
There are are a few stated made that really says it all.
First dog asked what we thought. Well, if anyone has been on this board for a while will know, we have our opinions so gave them.
Second Ray mentioned "ignore", this is a good rule anywhere on the internet, if you don't know what a post is about read the first few posts, if you don't like it ignore and move one.
Third, IMO the one time you should keep contributing on a subject you don't like is when it involves something that could cause damage or harm.
My prime example is the great truck relay from some years back with a member bought a BIG fire truck in Iowa but didn't have a plan to get it to his home in Oregon. A plan was cooked up that members could sign up to drive short distances in the relay. I saw many dangerous situations with this plan not only to members but to the general public. I was called a kill joy and a pessimist when in reality I was a realist. Same goes with all the wheel talk that comes up here on a regular basis. Wheels are something best left with the experts, not some backyard mechanic with a set of chains and a welder.
