A lot of allegations. None of them good. Not one allegation of performing a bad surgery or otherwise practicing bad medicine. No basis whatsoever to go after his license to practice medicine. I guess now, he will just have to make money in private practice.
Jim, You wouldn't happen to have a photo or a link to the lift that the veterans installed in your truck, would you? My brother has a bad case of COPD and it sounds like the VA is going to assist him in getting a cart probably something like you have. He currently owns a Lincoln SUV, it looks like a Ford Edge. He's thinking a carrier for the rear of it. I think he should sell it and buy a Ford Ranger.

Tim,
Jim probably has something like this:
I've seen mobility scooters on the back of vans, SUVs, and such. What I've seen is those things wobbling and bouncing as they're going down the road. Although I've never seen one fall off, so it's probably not an issue.
The best setup I have seen is a modified van, with a ramp. Then he can ride his scooter right into the van.
I have the second one in Fifty150's post. Right rear corner of my truck as well.
This photo was taken the day they installed it. You can see my cane handle sticking out over the edge of the bed. Normally, I don't take my cane when I am on the scooter, so I don't know why it is there. LOL.
BTW, I stopped by the repair shop yesterday, and they started the engine for me. Said they need to finish it up, and take it for a test drive, and I could come by today to test drive it. So, with any luck, I will have it this afternoon. Well, most likely evening, because my caregiver will be here today.

Didn't read your whole post before answering, but I saw where you said you recommend him to buy a Ford Ranger. Don't do it. Bruno will not authorize it. They would not put one in my Ranger. That is why I looked for an F150 when I got the insurance money. It doesn't make sense to me as the Ranger is a half-ton pickup, but they said it was not strong enough. My scooter weighs 225lbs without me on it. The lift is about 100lbs, so 325lbs in the bed of the Ranger is doable. Even with me sitting in the cab that would be another 325lbs. So, with my math skills 650lbs is still way under the 1,000lbs limit of the truck. However, since Bruno will not authorize it the VA did not approve it.
I don't know the inside dimensions of the Lincoln SUV, but I used to own a Toyota Sienna and a lift fit inside it. BUT, it was a major PITA to get the scooter in and out of it. The mirrors, front basket, rear basket, and armrests had to be removed, and the seat folded down. Not so with the F150. The only thing I need to do is fold down the seat so I can see through the back window while driving.

edit: If the VA approves a scooter for your brother, they will have him come to the local VA hospital and show him what is available. In my case they had 3 different "demo" models. Two from Pride Mobility, and one from Golden I believe. I chose Pride instead of the Golden one, mainly due to the Golden one being bigger than the one it was replacing, but also because it only came with one mirror. The Pride one also came with one mirror, but I still had the right-side mirror from my previous Pride scooter. The Golden one did not have a place to install the mirror. Once your brother picks the one he wants they will tell him it will take about four weeks to get it, as they are all custom made depending on what options he chooses. It took four weeks for my first scooter to get to me, but only two weeks for the second one. when the scooter arrives, he can contact the VA and request a scooter lift for his vehicle. In a day or two, Bruno will call him and ask a bunch of questions. In my case, they asked what vehicle I had. Then they asked if I wanted to lose my bed or my trailer hitch. I said bed. I could have had them install a hitch mounted ramp and keep the bed free, but I chose to have a bed mounted one so I could keep the hitch free in case I need to tow a U-Haul trailer in the future. I don't know how many weeks it took for that to be sent out, but I don't think it was too long, maybe another two weeks, but I am not sure on that.

Because people show up at random, and sometimes they come bearing gifts, my fridge always has an odd collection of food. Nothing is ever even or portioned correctly. I have some tortillas, because I made tacos and didn't finish the whole pack. There were a few lobster tails leftover. Still had pork chops. There's a half package of ground beef, because I made tacos. I see a salmon fillet and some roast beef - which are still wrapped. A lot of assorted vegetables.
It was time to clean out the fridge. Eat whatever was in there. Which is actually every day. Every day, I've got to eat whatever is in the fridge. The executive decision, was to deep fry. So unhealthy. I ended up with chips & lobster appetizers, and pork sandwiches.
I'm wondering what would have happened if I tried to fry the green beans and sandwich rolls.
When I was a kid, the 7 bone roast was a popular cut. Slow cooked. It melted in your mouth. They don't sell it anymore. Butchers make more by taking it apart for "designer" steaks.
The pork version is alive and well. Sold as inexpensive pork chops. That's a win for me. Pork is the other white meat.
