IMO the last thing you want to do is argue or otherwise antagonize them as long as they are working on it.
I agree. That is why I have not filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. I know he is working with me on the price, but I also know he has told me several times he would have it ready by a certain day, and it doesn't happen. I am just getting frustrated with all the delays. I think one of the other mechanics may have screwed something up and this current one is having to fix his errors. However, that is just a theory. I will find out more tonight.
How much would you pay for Chinese food? This restaurant in Chinatown is getting $200 to $300 per table for 2 . $75 per person, plus beverage, tax, and tip. That money could buy a lot of Panda Express.
The wind came up this morning, so we put off burning the brush. Worked in the shop, worked in the yard, the wind calmed down so we burned the brush.
Decided to cook dinner in the coals!
Fingerling potatoes Chicken sausages with feta cheese and spinach. The pit. Waiting for them to get cooked. Dinner is done, just relaxing by the coals!
Well, the saga continues... Stopped by the repair shop yesterday and saw a cherry picker by my truck. Intake manifold on the ground and the transmission still out. Asked the owner what was going on. He tells me when they tried to start it there was a lot of rattling coming from the crankcase so they shut it off immediately. He then tells me the owner of the white F150 that was there for the same thing mine was, claims he will file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive repair because his engine "rattles" That truck is all finished and ready for the customer, but the customer refuses to take it. It has also been there two years. Mainly because the first year the customer didn't have the money to get a used engine. So, the owner asks me if I want that engine put in mine for an additional $700. I am able to pay the original bill of $700 with one of my credit cards. However, the only way to come up with an addition $700 is to max out all my cards, and I cannot do that. It would leave me with no way to buy food, or necessities until next month which is too long to go without food. So, I will contact the VA social worker and see if the San Joaquin Valley Vets can help with some or all of it like they did last year with my registration.
I have already told the owner to go ahead and swap motors as I know that one runs because I was there when they finished it and moved it to a different parking space on the property. What makes me mad is all the money I spent on the engine in my truck. Oil pump, timing chains and sprockets. It would cost too much for them to swap all that over. He says he will put two mechanics on it, and it will be done in a week. I don't believe the week part as they never do anything that fast, so maybe two weeks? Two months? I don't know, but I do know I am tired of all this. I have so much money (mostly credit card debt at this point) tied up in this truck I can't get rid of it. I would never be able to sell it for what I have in it. I am not going to try GoFundMe this time either as I did not get one single dime from anyone other than church members, and one FTE member. Besides, I hate begging for money. I am in this position due to mistakes I have made, not anyone else. I will let the people in my Bible studies know what is going on, and if they want to make repeat donations, I will accept them, but I am hoping and praying I won't need them if the SJVV will step up again and help out.
I paid the vehicle registration renewal this past Friday which came to $202 so I put it on a credit card. Now I just need them to help with the repair bill.
Bummer Jim, What's wrong with your engine now? I guess I don't understand, I thought it ran before you took it to the shop, just not good enough to pass the smog test. It didn't raddle before did it? I'm thinking they made a mistake! Maybe they didn't get the oil pump drive in place, or maybe that's where that 10mm socket disappeared to. I think you should get a better understanding of the raddle, and what is actually going on in the engine causing the noise. As you said you have a lot of money tied up in that engine.
I don't understand it either. The engine ran fine 90% of the time. It randomly would cough and sputter like it jumped timing, but that could be fixed by turning it off and back on again. Then it would run fine again. When they removed the engine to install the parts, they showed me the oil pan and it had small bits and pieces of the tensioners. So, maybe some bits were still in it when they started it up for the first time since the install. I don't know. What I do know is that the engine that is going into it runs fine. They started it up while I was passing the place on the way to church. That truck has an issue with the transmission, but not the engine. Which is why it is going in my truck. I don't have a problem with the added amount as I know for a fact the engine is good that I am getting. It is just the timing of it. I don't have $700 just sitting in my bank waiting to pay a repair bill. So, I'll see if SJVV can come to my rescue again.
