Magnetic leaf spring bushings

While replacing the rear leaf spring bushings I noticed both rear bushings were magnetized to the point they’d hold a 1/2 nut easily.
Anyone have a clue what caused them to become magnetized?

I have no idea but that's damn cool. Even the leaf pack is magnetized. In the first pic, opposite of the nut, you can see ferrous filings standing off of the leaf itself. So, not only is the inner metal sleeve magnetic, the whole leaf pack is, too.

That is strange
I would go over all the grounds.
Battery to motor
Motor to frame
Motor to fire wall

My cutlery comes out of the dishwasher magnetized sometimes. Doesn't concern me much.

I’ve had this one for about 4 years and admittedly it’s been “under repair” and sitting most of the time.
I can’t attest to the electrical quality before I started but I’ve replaced and added to all the grounds
So I guess the cause has been fixed but I still have the leftovers.

I dont know if grounds or no grounds was the cause or not just something I was reaching for that made sense at the time LOL

I got to ask how did you find that nut would stick like it did?
Not something you would put a nut to to see if it sticks LOL

I was using half inch all thread with a handful of washers to press the bushings out. While adding washers to the all thread I noticed they would jump from my fingers to the all thread.

only that one end of the spring is magnetic. The old bushings and bolts are not magnetic. But the same place on both leaf springs is magnetic
🤷🏽‍♂️

OK I can see that I was just on how you found it

Did you change the bushings at the front?
They are the important ones as the rear spring bushings are along for the ride and not really under load like the front being pushed when driving.

yes I replaced all 3 bushings on both rear leaf springs
“in for a penny, in for a pound”

I didn’t think the old bushings were that bad but I think/feel the ride is tighter now.

We call that the "snow ball" starts small and just gets bigger

I did not replace my spring bushings as they looked good, besides its all behind me
I did all poly bushings up front.
