If you have to go -- volunteer to do the appetizers. Pick up a deep frier and a bunch of food and turn the day into a science/cooking experiment.
Find yourself an isolated corner and go to work -- tell everyone you need plenty of space cause its a fire hazard -- but beer is allowed --cools the hand that reaches into the boiling pot of peanut oil.

Deep fried corn on the cob is good as is whole potatoes, hot dogs, could'nt get the deep fried ice cream right though , jalapeno poppers were easy-- turkey was awesome. Helps if you have a few "want to be fat" dogs around to help with the mistake pile.

haha... thinking about the dodge ram... just put a "rainbow" sticker in a spot thats hard for him to see... everyone knows what the "rainbow" sign means right?

or this one happened to a guy i use to work with...
someone put a "CAUTION-driver is hung like a chip-munk" sign on his vehicle...

or if you really want him out of the house, and pardon me for sounding like a jerk, just hold the valve stem on his tire open. you are just simply letting the air out, not doing any damage... then while youre getting some quality time in the house, hes switching tires.

now personally i would NOT go that route, but hey.. just a suggestion. i think he'd rather change a tire than to get slapped around the dinner table

I say come down with a mysterious ailment that has you locked in the bathroom until dinner. When your girlfriend is around to run interference, you're miraculously cured.

I would go and suffer through if all else. I don’t know about your girlfriend, but to me my family is very important. Even the family I don’t particularly like. I know I would be upset if my guy didn’t come to one of my family things without a death certif. or something. Especially a dinner with my dad’s side. hey, misery loves company

Better one, Matt--loosen his valve-stems. Not a lot, just enough to give him a very slow leak. Won't incapacitate him immediately, but the thought of him finding 4 flats the next morning would be enough to crack me up!

I'm Evil...EVIL!!! I tell you!!!

Targus, You take your cat with you to relatives house?

Anyway, my advice would be to show your gal how much you care for her by going and making the best of it. Be mature about it and don't mope or pout. Find diversions, there are a lot of good choices already mentioned. Help Mother in law, take a few tools along and find something that needs fixed. Are any smaller kids going to be there? If so entertain them and have fun. Make a game out of it. Be glad it isn't at your house (which is a very real possibility you know). Life is full of compromises and you can't cop out on many of them, so learn now how to be diplomatic and polite. Also your gal will understand that you don't want to hang around for turkey soup so have it planned ahead of time with her to arrive as late as tolerable and to leave early. Many people have multiple commitments on holidays and they will understand if you don't hang around all day. I say you should be able to get out of there in two hours-tops. I've done it. Try to avoid the goobers as much as possible.
