I bought a new ELM for ForScan and when testing I an receiving several codes from the Overhead Trip Computer:
Code: P0500 - VSS sensor circuit fault.
Code: U2016 - Overhead Trip Computer Signal Link Circuit Failure
Code: B2148 - PWM Input Circuit Failure
Code: B1255 - External air temperature sensor circuit open
I noticed the trip computer not responding the other day, I reset it and it started to work.
The P0500 could only be to the OTC feed as I have no other symptoms or errors in the other systems.
I have been chasing down a poor A/C performance issue so the B1255 interests me however the EATC has no codes and the temp display is normal. The OTC was replaced years ago under warranty and always reads -40. The unit went dark a few years back and I had it fixed at Circuit Board Medics. Outside ambient sensors are still available from Ford. Part #: DY1137
I am not sure about the B2148 code
I have the dash apart and want to put it back together but I don't want to repeat work if it is an Instrument Cluster.
Yes, they repair the trip computers. I will pull it this weekend and ship it on Monday. The online form has you list all of the issues with an item.
BTW Circuit Board Medics also repairs clusters, certain EATC units, PCMs and FICMs
I am glad to see people are in business now to fix the electronics, as newer vehicles age this will be the death of them, one module can put it in the junk yard.
I had my OTC repaired at FICMRepair and the compass still doesn't work. They have a disclaimer on their product page that says they don't guarantee the compass will work following a rebuild. Would be nice to know what Circuit Board Medics has to say about it.

My compass works now, the main fault I noticed was the trip computer hung and I am getting the communications error codes. I am going to pull it tomorrow and send it off on Monday.
