I requested a quote and think I received an email. I’ll print it tomorrow and compare item for item. I’d do it tonight but too much interesting stuff coming up on the news tonight.

Dave…is that rubber piece simply a gasket to keep the cap from leaking? It was a half inch down in the reservoir. Kinda late to mess with this now but I’ll get right back on it tomorrow …thank you. As soon as I do this I’ll report back in with what I find. I did shovel snow off my driveway 3 times today and around the house 2 times and now it’s snowing again 😵‍💫.

I dont know if it is a gasket or just something that kind of floats on the top of the fluid but you should make sure if you pour fluid in it can make it by it or it just sits on top and gives it a faults level.

If I remember correctly the rubber ducky has a rim around it and a nose that goes down into the reservoir. I don't think it's a seal for the cap but the rim sits on a shoulder in the reservoir. Remove it to check and fill the reservoir. The nose then takes up most of the air space above the fluid level. Mine has never sunk to the bottom. I haven't had mine open for a couple years now but tomorrow I'll open it up take photos and check my fluid level.

I'm guessing the rubber piece under the cap of the clutch MC is like the rubber piece under the brake MC. It takes up air space as the brake pads wear and more fluid is needed to fill the lines... ?

So it would be normal to see it extended. I assume that is what we're talking about.

Yes, and that is what it's for, to take up air space. Less air means less moisture entering the fluid. Brake fluid loves moisture, and then corrosion soon follows.

This rubber cap sitting stuck on top if the reservoir has gotten me twice already. You really can't see that it's there. Fill the reservoir with fluid, but no fluid is getting down to the master cylinder because the cap is stopping it.

I pulled my MC cap this AM. The rubber ducky was attached well to the cap. I think my original MC had a two piece, cap and rubber ducky. I checked my fluid and it was down at least 3/4". Air working it's way out since I replaced the slave plus some clutch wear. Topped it to the mark replaced the cap-N- ducky. No spillage putting cap back on.

I’ll probably see this on my own but I’m assuming the fill line is on the outside of the clutch cyclinder or?

There is a distinct line around the reservoir. It's best viewed from the inside and that is where you'll be looking if you need to top off anyway. Fill right to the line as over filling will cause spillage when replacing the cap and rubber ducky.

If you're not 7 feet tall I suggest a stool or step ladder so you can see what you're doing. I use my 6 foot orchard ladder.

notice the rubber ducky has 4 pleats. As the reservoir level goes down the ducky can expand to take up the volume. Similar to the accordion rubber seal in the top of the brake master.

So the fill line is the level where it can accommodate the rubber ducky with out spilling over the top. Replace the Cap-N-Ducky carefully.

Does he need to push the rubber ducky back into the cap ? Like what is done on the brakes.
